Nancy McPherson put a Webb for Senate yard sign on her lawn.  Someone complained.  Her neighborhood association told her that yard signs were against the rules.  Don't trifle with Nancy!!

bravo.. (drmontoya - 9/30/2006 11:55:55 PM)
bravo, this is a democracy.

When did politics break apart from it?

The American people need to know our constitution is at risk.. will they only pay attention and heed our word in the final moments of our democracy?

I won't.

We were all born fighting.

Nancy won't back down! n/t (Arturo - 10/1/2006 9:26:54 AM)

Anybody know how to make such a sign? (thegools - 10/1/2006 11:03:38 AM)
Is this one of those see-through decals?

Webb on Wheels (ncmcpherson - 10/1/2006 7:35:39 PM)
The campaign was nice enough to email the art for the "vinyl wrap" to the sign company (DeSigns, here in Chesapeake) & they customized the art to fit my back windshield & applied it.  It's on the outside of the window.  And yes, it does have holes in it, it's just like the window covers on buses. Normally they laminate vinyl wraps, but because it won't be on there long term, I opted not to go for that added expense, plus it takes longer to get it if they laminate it.  (The lamination keeps the dirt out of the holes.)  Looking out the back window it appears to be tinted, no visibility problems.  I can barely see the design from the inside.  But I can clearly see "Semper Fi!  Jim Webb"  If you want any contact information to get a vinyl wrap like this, just email me at ncmcpherson@cox.net

I want one too... (Loudoun County Dem - 10/1/2006 7:45:39 PM)
...How much was it (if you don't mind sharing)?

Webb on Wheels (ncmcpherson - 10/1/2006 9:49:31 PM)
$180.00 & that includes installation.  It might be less if your window is smaller.

That is dedication!! (thegools - 10/1/2006 11:46:27 PM)

More whining Republicans (Eric - 10/1/2006 11:20:56 AM)
squirming at the thought of an American hero being elected who will represent all of Virginia.

Way to keep the pressure on, Nancy!

She's a Volunteer! (Bubby - 10/1/2006 12:21:34 PM)
Capital V. Volunteers moved to the American frontier - Tennessee, hiked to New Orleans with Andrew Jackson, died at the Alamo, fought with Sam Houston, and carved out Texas.

And some homeowners group wants her to take down a Webb sign.  Peshaw! Picked on the wrong gal.

Nancy Rocks!! n/t (Alicia - 10/1/2006 12:38:23 PM)

Prediction: (buzzbolt - 10/1/2006 12:55:51 PM)
We'll hear from Nancy again, soon!  She is retired from the United States Coast Guard, lives (and votes) in Cheasapeake, Virginia and if you can't break the code on her Virginia tag, she came to us from Tennessee--the Volunteer State!

Nancy is my Hero ! (beachydem - 10/1/2006 4:49:38 PM)
You go girl, but be careful {{hug}}.

WAY TO GO NANCY!!! (wagonball - 10/1/2006 6:24:36 PM)

Nancy Born Fighting!! (seamusotoole - 10/1/2006 10:19:35 PM)
Nancy,

Watch out for those idiots on the road who will most probably cut you off on the road like the dimwit who has
tried to force my husband off the road coming from Manassas
on Route 66.  What do you think the reason is?  He's got
Webb stickers on his car and a Turning Sully District Blue
Bumper Sticker.  Next time he tries it we'll press charges.
These people will stop at nothing.  They're bullys like someone else we know.  Watch your back.  Thanks for not caving in.

COMMENT HIDDEN (Jane Oldham - 10/1/2006 10:57:19 PM)

Are you really (thegools - 10/1/2006 11:47:53 PM)
that unpleasent in normal life?  That must make for some very unhappy times.  Pity.

That's outrageously nasty. (Lowell - 10/2/2006 5:14:08 AM)
You are not welcome at Raising Kaine anymore.  Goodbye, troll!

Thanks for re-energizing some of us AGAINST your Type... (Used2Bneutral - 10/2/2006 6:04:27 AM)
Jane,
I almost used the word "Kind" instead of type in this title.... but Kind is not a word I can use in a sentence that describes you ever.... I know the "Husband" referenced in the note above…..He is one of the kindest, most reasonable, intelligent people I have been so lucky to meet and have known…..He is an accomplished Vietnam vet as well, as am I, something a youngster like Allen doesn’t understand.  I was going to ask if your picture showed in any of the pictures of the campaign activities for either side, but you saved me the time, it’s obviously the one shown in the dictionary under “bitch” and I won’t insult the dogs they have there as well….

If her husband gets run off the road by this Repuglican jerk and gets hurt, I’m sure you will be thrilled just like your hurtful bullying fearless(ignorant)leader and soon to be ex-senator George Allen….. Thanks for further clarifying why I help fight jerks like you and Allen.

AND the rest of the RK crew, Please do not "troll-rate" her note.... I want my comments to show !!!!

I'd love one like Nancy's, but (libra - 10/2/2006 1:48:39 AM)
around here, cops are likely to stop you if you have one of those -- almost entirely clear -- "sun-screen" films on your windows; can't imagine what would happen if I plastered a colored one on my back windows.. I've been *very* careful to make sure that my "Had enough? Vote democratic!" and my donkey (also with "vote democratic") are place "just so" behind the back-seat headrests, so that they do not obscure my back vision any more than's "natural".

Then there's the possible damage to the car by the "rabid patriots" (like Jane Oldham) who think that buying a yellow ribbon magnet supports our troops and who feel that gouging the paint of an "opposition" car is permissible under the Free Speech amendment (and *my* husband's car was *parked* at the time, Jane. You're a nitwit -- par for the course for trolls).

We don't have a neighborhood watch regarding signs but, for years, the unspoken consensus seemed to be that they're tacky and you never saw any. The first ones appeared in '04 (doncha *love* "the uniter" ) and there are a -- very -- few ones now (including ours, as of today).

I've pasted a Webb mini bumpersticker on the front of my (one and only, so it goes with nme everywhere) pocketbook -- if it's tacky, my DH doesn't get tarred by the same brush -- and it's been getting some attention; I've seen a lot of friendly smiles die half-born when the person's eyes alight on it.

But, for 33 yrs, my husband has enjoyed teaching me -- and I enjoyed learning -- the American idiom. So, if someone expresses a dislike of my "walking ad", I just say: "tough titty" :)

My Daughters live where signs are restricted also... BUT (Used2Bneutral - 10/2/2006 6:34:58 AM)
They put Democrat Bumper Stickers on their BIG trash containers.... at least twice a week the containers are right out there in front of everyone on the main street or parking lot..... they get major exposure and quite frankly not inappropriate since we as Democrats are certainly in the "trash removal" business the next couple months.
