Jim Webb on Guns, Taxes

Just to knock down a couple MORE lies and distortions (do they ever end?!?) that the Allen campaign, in its desperation, is trying to spread about Jim Webb:

1) Jim Webb DOES have a position on guns, and it's been very clear and consistent for a long time now (maybe they're not paying attention?).  Here it is, courtesy of WDBJ7:

Jim Webb made his rounds in Southwest Virginia this weekend, and he stopped by the Roanoke Civic Center for the gun show on Sunday.

The democratic candidate for U.S. Senate says he's a big believer in gun ownership.

Webb strongly believes people should be able to carry weapons and defend themselves and their families.

This is part of Jim's belief that the government shouldn't come in our front doors unless there's a strong, overriding reason to do so.  It's also part of Jim's belief that the 2nd Amenmdent to the US Constitution guarantees the right of citizens to bear arms.  I agree with him, by the way, as long as we're not talking about people owning Abrams' tanks or whatever.

2) Jim Webb DOES have a position on taxes, and it's been very clear and consistent as well.  Here it is:

a) According to the Washington Post, Webb has "proposed a 5 percent income tax break for veterans who have served honorably."

b) According to Webb, our current tax policies "make no sense."

Our economy is in trouble. Our tax policies make no sense. Our country is breaking into three pieces, with the people at the top living in a luxury never before dreamed of, even as our middle class sees its jobs being outsourced overseas, their health care slipping away and our public education systems declining, and as the people at the bottom are becoming a permanent underclass.

Webb adds that "We must reexamine our tax and trade policies and reinstitute notions of fairness."

c) Webb would make our tax system fairer by rolling back Bush tax cuts for ultra rich people who don't need them. From This Week with George Stephanopolous:

GS: So you'd roll back some of President Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy?

JW: I don't really understand how you can have a tax cut and be spending $500 billion on a war.

GS: So you would?

JW: Yeah, I would.

So, there you have it.  Jim Webb supports the 2nd Amendment.  Jim Webb supports tax breaks for our fighting men and women, not for billionaires.  In contrast, we know what George Allen's priorities are.

Stop talking about the issues (Eric - 9/26/2006 9:04:34 AM)
or you'll ruin Jon Henke's day.  And the A-team's day as well.

This is their next to last thread - that Allen has serious personal issues is all about the issues and Webb has no issues.  And that BS line of attack isn't going to work if you keep providing Webb's position on all the various issues.

Their last thread, after this crap doesn't pan out, will be the all out negative attacks based on highly suspect information and extreme exaggerations.  No wait... first thing is that they'll accuse us of doing that.  THEN they'll do it themselves.
