Sportsmen for Webb Create More Buzz at Hampton Gun Show

By now it is clear that Jim Webb's pro-Second Amendment message to Virginia's hunters and low-abiding gun owners is getting across, in spite of attempts by Allen people to muddy the waters on Webb's position.  Sportsmen for Webb added another nail to the coffin of Allen's attempts  by their successful appearance at the Southeastern Gun Show last weekend in Hampton, where Webb volunteers not only conveyed their candidates pro-Second Amendment position, but also pointed out  George Allen's dismal record on protecting the wildlife habitat crucial to hunters. The friendly reception given to Sportssmen for Webb by many passersby should be a cause of real concern to George Felix.

Allen and his dwindling supporters will be more determined to continue to discuss ham sandwiches and falsely interpreted fliers to keep things like this out of the light.

Great to hear about the positive reception at a place, in theory, that should be an Allen strong hold.

Where is the next one? (thegools - 9/21/2006 4:52:07 PM)
I would love to join in on it.  I haven't been to one in years, but I do like Webb and I do like his common sense stance on guns.

The gun issue has been a real loser for many the democrat in VA over the years.

Indeed if guns were my one issue I would not have voted for many democrats over the years.  However, guns are not high on my priorities when it comes to votes.  Still, Webb's stance will do well to win over those voters who do not normally look beyond this one issue.

Did you pay to set up the table? (thegools - 9/21/2006 5:59:09 PM)

Good stuff! (mkfox - 9/21/2006 9:14:48 PM)
What did the gun show attendents say about Webb and the campaign?

Good stuff (JLK - 9/22/2006 10:38:29 AM)
A mixture.  Expressions of surprise that a Democratic candidate would be there; expressions of support; and some sceptical comments.  More favorable than unfavorable.

Glad to see this (Hugo Estrada - 9/22/2006 1:27:38 PM)
Although I am not a gun afficionado myself, I understand why the Second Amendment makes total sense as an insurance against tyranny.
