Barack Obama and Jim Webb Rally Rocks!

Please see the "flip" for more photos of the Obama/Webb rally tonight in Alexandria.  I'll have a lot more details later, but suffice it to say that it was an awesome event, attended by hundreds of people - not to mention a slew of elected officials like Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille, Congressman Jim Moran, former Congresswoman Leslie Byrne, Del. Donald McEachin, Del. David Englin, and many others.  It was totally rockin'...possibly the best speech I've ever heard Jim Webb give.  And Barack Obama, of course, was a rock star.  Last but not least, I ran into some legends of the Webb movement, including Tony Mastalski and PhriendlyJaime, and to meet some people I'd never met before - except on the blogosphere.

P.S.  Thanks to Ingrid Morroy for a few of these photos!

P.P.S. More excellent photos here.

I hope someone taped the event for those of us too far away (JennyE - 9/20/2006 8:15:57 PM)
Tell me someone did, please?

There were lots of video cameras there (Lowell - 9/20/2006 8:27:03 PM)
Hopefully, someone will put it on YouTube.

RE: Video Tapes (JPTERP - 9/20/2006 8:51:17 PM)
Based on the photos it looks like there was a videographer in the audience ;-)

not the kind we want. ;-) (JennyE - 9/20/2006 8:54:03 PM)

Yes, Allen's friendly tracker was there (Lowell - 9/20/2006 9:06:46 PM)

Perhaps they will post it (Eric - 9/21/2006 11:06:12 AM)
for everyone to see.  They owe us one after we posted Allen's remarks at the ethnic rally.

Oh, nevermind, they don't play fair so that's too much to ask.

I can arrange to convert any tape footage (Used2Bneutral - 9/21/2006 11:22:16 AM)
If anyone can get a copy from any of the TV stations or networks that covered it.... I can make it into anything else you can use including DVDs... Does someone on the Webb staff have a contact to one of the stations that covered it?? The digital tapes they use on those comercial broadcast cameras are usually under $15 worst case each new.... and I can copy and return the original.  Lowell, Eric and Josh know how to get it to me....

The tracker was there (kevinceckowski - 9/20/2006 9:35:17 PM)
nice picture of the guy (last picture is him with a video camera).

I hear a lot of folks are hoping he votes for Jim after he is finished giving all the videos to Allen.

I think he is learning a lot about how fantastic and HONEST our candidate really is.

Most Excellent! (Greg - 9/20/2006 8:18:45 PM)
There was some very positive coverage of the Webb/Allen race on NBC Nightly News this evening, including a clip of Webb with Sen. Obama (and a couple of seconds of Tom Petty audio at the end).

Since M'soft is evil, you'll need to view the video clip in Internet Explorer.

Thanks (PM - 9/20/2006 9:27:07 PM)
The NBC coverage waas totally positive.

The horse did not look too cooperative.

It was amazing... (Loudoun County Dem - 9/20/2006 8:38:46 PM)
...and emotional... I will get some more pics up soon...

Crowd shots... (Loudoun County Dem - 9/20/2006 9:01:50 PM)
...These were before the rally started, the crowd got much bigger later (my camera batteries went dead - DOH!!! stupid camera batteries)...

wow (TurnVirginiaBlue - 9/20/2006 10:34:46 PM)
I just gotta a "feeling" I just gotta "feeling" that this campaign has turned big time and Webb is gonna win.

More Rally pics... (Loudoun County Dem - 9/21/2006 12:54:19 AM)
...Thanks to LCDC'er Bob Pierce for these pics (check out his site for more outstanding pics).

Nice! (Lowell - 9/21/2006 5:45:08 AM)
Thanks very much...great seeing you there, btw.

Webb made me proud (mickeyd - 9/20/2006 8:52:05 PM)
I watched as Tweety tried to get Jim Webb to talk about Allen's Jewish heritage and I was proud that Jim told Tweety the inquiry was inappropriate and that issues relating to Allen's bigotry, heritage, etc. were not relevant.  His insistence on turning the discussion to more substantive matters was admirable.

I hope the campaign will be able to focus on Iraq, Allen's allegiance to the oil and pharmaceutical companies, the huge debt that Bush/Allen have built, etc.  The issues are on our side.  All we need to do is ensure that the attention is given to thoses issues.  Allen would love to distract Virginians, but as his performance on Hardball showed, Webb is focused.  We need to elect Webb because in Jim Webb we have a grown-up running for office and Webb with Warner will give Virginia two grown-ups as Senators.

Great Event (DukieDem - 9/20/2006 10:36:33 PM)
Great event to be at, the atmosphere there really felt electric. By far the best speech Webb has given, I hope we can get clips up soon.

i was there too (pvogel - 9/20/2006 10:38:55 PM)
great rally....  bama gave a  sermon on the mount kind of speech, and the early chilhood issue was nice.
Later, at my  civic meeting{I am prez of wakefield-tarlton} we had R Krupicka talk about  pre k initiatives that Kaine is pushing!

Also there (Republicus1 - 9/20/2006 11:08:59 PM)
It was a great rally and the attendance was impressive.  I had read that Senator Obama never pushes away an autograph or outstretched hand.  It's true - he was held up for what seemed 20-30 minutes because of it.

Webb's speech.. (drmontoya - 9/20/2006 11:13:44 PM)
best. ever.

Lowell, or anyone. We need that transcript!

GREAT SPEECH!!!!! (phriendlyjaime - 9/20/2006 11:53:15 PM)
Awesome, awesome event.  Just got home after a super phun dinner with about 30 well known Webb supporters and volunteers, and I am beat.  Great night, and good to see you all!

Picture of Entire Square.... (Doug in Mount Vernon - 9/21/2006 12:30:23 PM)
I would have loved to see a picture from above the Square.  That crowd was HUGE and very excited.

What amazing speeches, amazing coverage, and things are certainly heating up in Virginia---in a good way!
