Keep Hurst's Momentum Going

I believe everyone who attended, or has read about, last night's debate between Andy Hurst and Tom Davis now realize that it is absolutely essential that Andy be elected as our next Congressman. Simply by watching the two candidates behavior after the debate you could tell which candidate is more interested in hearing what people had to say. Since Andy Hurst stayed until the crowd was almost all gone and Davis raced out as quickly as possible, I believe the answer is obvious. ANDY CARES ABOUT LISTENING. DAVIS CARES ABOUT GETTING HOME.

As the debate illustrated, Tom Davis has many connections with lobbyists and is, therefore, has millions of dollars on hand. Andy, however, has refused to accept money from PACS because he wants to make sure that the people donating to him actually know something about his candidacy. As a result, it is absolutely crucial that everyone helps to spread the word about Andy. One way you can do that is through volunteering. However, not everyone has the time to do so. That is why the Bloggers for Field project was created. For those who are not familiar with the project, the following is a brief description.

As many of you know, I have written several posts in support of Andrew Hurst. Andy is running against Tom Davis, who is the chairman of the House Committee on Government Reform. Much to our chagrin, recent media reports have revealed that instead of ensuring that lawmakers are held to the highest of standards, Tom Davis has formed cozy relationships with lobbyists and PACs. That is why it is so important to elect a candidate, such as Andy Hurst, who will honestly strive to advocate reform.

In recent elections, the blogosphere has become a powerful part of the political process. A candidate, however, cannot win an election solely based upon his or her support among net-root activists. It is therefore crucial that a candidate has as many volunteers as possible. Unfortunately, there are many people who do not have the time to personally volunteer for a candidate. There is, after all, only so many hours in a day. As a result, I would like to present a proposal of how you could potentially help the Andy Hurst for Congress campaign.

An Act Blue site has been set up in order to raise money for the Hurst campaign. Through this site, donors would be able to assist AndyGÇÖs ability to reach out to voters across District 11. The first $4,000 raised will go towards hiring a field organizer, and the rest of it would be used as the campaign sees fit, with the understanding that it must be used for voter contact, or other field activities. The organizers of this site would also like to have the support of a vast number of bloggers, not just one person in particular.

As of now, we have had over $240 has been donated. Let's keep it up. The site will be running until September 31, which means we must act quickly to reach the goal of $4,000.

This is a great program (pitin - 9/22/2006 3:55:26 PM)
We are considering bringing on a new Field Organizor or maybe a few paid canvassers to go out on weekday evenings.

This is an unprecedented opportunity for your, our supporters and contributors, to tell the campaign how to spend the money that you yourself donate.

I personally think that field is the way to win campaigns, and as such, have personally given money through this site, and I hope you join me.
