Jim Webb tells Virginia and this country that we need him

And there's no question that we most assuredly and desperately do.

In today's debate with George Allen, Jim Webb eloquently pledged to give his heart and soul, his decades of experience and personal judgement, and his sense of fair play to help this country veer away from the wreckless dangerous path we're on.

It's beginning to dawn on me what we're up against.

Senator Allen crowed about post invasion Kurdistan where he did not need to wear a flak jacket.

Jim Webb said -- not so fast, a realistic look at Kurdistan considers the risks of the underlying friction with Turkey on it's northern border.

George Allen complained that Jim Webb wouldn't even let him have this one triumph - Kurdistan.

I honestly cannot figure out whether the view presented to us through George Allen's rose colored glasses is strictly for our benefit or whether he believes that false image himself.

Regardless, George Allen's view, George Bush's view are pie in the sky, not realistic and explain their dangerous incompetence.

I don't know whether George Allen believes the illusions he projects or not. I just know he is dangerous because he refuses to be truthful about reality.

I suspect he's truthful when he gets down to the quid pro quo between himself and those businesses like Smithfield who fund his campaign. I suspect he is realistic there. But does he see how Smithfield abuses workers, the environment and animals all in one fell swoop or does that not matter or does he not care?

George Allen and George Bush are dangerous because of their view of the world. A world defined by what they want to see instead of what's really there.

Thanks to Jim Webb for offering Virginia voters his competence, his realism and his kind heart for all Virginians and all Americans -- most especially those Americans who more than ever need a fair playing field instead of having to fight to stay afloat against the tide of a pay to play corrupt patronage system.

I finally have an inkling of what's behind George Allen's permanent smile -- it's his reaction to the dream world he's painting for those foolish enough to believe the false image of where we are. Deny and smile. A dangerous way to run a country.
