Allen and the "Three C's"

What is it with George Allen and the initials "CCC" (as in the hate group, Council of Conservative Citizens)?  In this flyer, the Allen campaign consistently uses the phrase "consistent, conservative, common sense" ("3 C's" or "CCC") to describe Allen.  Besides the fact that Allen has flip flopped on numerous issues, has been a big-government/big spender (e.g., record deficits) in the U.S. Senate, and has shown very little "common sense" unless you count 97% rubberstamp support for George W. Bush as "common sense."  Yeah, right.

Anyway, what is it with this "CCC" thing anyway?  Is Allen's campaign intending this as code language, or is the repetitive use of "three C's" simply an innocent coincidence?  You decide.

P.S.  I also love how the flyer uses the phrase "Our Senator George Allen," with the capital "O" in "Our" like Allen is God or something. Weird.

P.P.S.  Grammar police: when "common sense" is used as an adjective, it's one word not two.

P.P.P.S.  Love that unauthorized use of the Ronald Reagan photo!  On a related note, I also hear that a disabled Vietnam Veteran and big Webb supporter spent most of yesterday (Thursday) consulting with intellectual property law attorneys on the unauthorized use of one of his photos in George Allen's latest negative TV attack ad against Jim Webb.

Last "P.S.": For the rest of the flyer, go to the "flip" of this diary.

Don't you have something better to do (kestrel9000 - 9/15/2006 6:59:48 AM)
like waterboarding terror suspects or putting firecrackers in the mouths of frogs?

If I'm a "kook" and not "normal" (Lowell - 9/15/2006 7:25:20 AM)
then why do you worry about what I have to say?  Anyway, the feeling is mutual: I think you're a kook too and extremely strange, bizarre really  This has nothing to do with your being conservative, by the way, it's just you.  I also think you have nothing to say and that you say things poorly.  All in all, you're a pitiful representative for the Allen side.  Can't they find anyone more articulate, informed, and intelligent anywhere in Virginia?  Frankly, if you're the best they have to offer, Webb is certainly going to win on November 7.

Oh look! (Arturo - 9/15/2006 7:21:00 AM)
A brown kid in the picture! Allen likes us... NOT!!

OK, "I Publius" (Iwhoever the hell you are) (Lowell - 9/15/2006 8:27:17 AM)
All you're doing in coming here is insulting people.  You're not making any substantive points.  We have tolerated this for months, but it's time to stop.  Hell, you even insulted my wife - a "gubmint lawyer," as you so disparagingly put it.  Goodbye, I Publius, it's been nice knowing you.  Heh heh.

By the way, I'll consider reinstating you when... (Lowell - 9/15/2006 8:30:58 AM)
a) The Allen bloggers start allowing comments on THEIR blogs, without censorship;

and

b) You agree to stop insulting people and to start adding something substantive - from a conservative perspective is fine - to the discussion.

Good for you, Lowell! (aes - 9/15/2006 8:34:05 AM)
Thanks for ridding us of I.Pub.

Dang (Doug Garnett-Deakin - 9/15/2006 9:31:52 AM)
He always made me laugh because he personified the stereotype. Oh well, can't say as I blame you.

I Publius (JPTERP - 9/15/2006 8:58:44 AM)
is . . . my money is on Riley.

The saddest part: the people at RK are probably the closest thing that Publius/Riley has ever had to friends.  You think I jest.

Lowell is doing an outstanding job (bladerunner - 9/15/2006 8:32:52 AM)
I don't know Lowell, but it seems to me that he is doing an outstanding job of getting the facts out there on the Council of Conservative Citizen's Jr. Senator(Allen). When you're doing these blog things, typos, commas and punctuation are sometimes wrong. No biggy. Of course everyone would like to make it perfect, but this is the real world.

I don't even know what typos he's talking about (Lowell - 9/15/2006 9:02:02 AM)
Weird, as always.  I got an 800 on my GRE English section and don't need to be lectured by someone like I. Pubus about grammar and spelling.

IPub has retreated (Eric - 9/15/2006 9:09:08 AM)
into his own delusional world.

Not.

The reality is that he's just trying to waste every one's time.  He's not crazy, just harassing everyone who reads RK.  He's been saying things that can be dis-proven beyond any doubt in hopes that people will go back over the post, or the photo, or his comments with a fine tooth comb looking for the error.

I hope the replacement they send at least makes some attempt to discuss issues.

Exactly (Mark - 9/15/2006 9:12:33 AM)
Besides,  mistakes are made. That's life.

Thanks for stepping in Lowell; we have only to wait for the fuss, if any, about him being banned. It might provide a clue to this person.

Didn't we hear the no legs (Eric - 9/15/2006 9:39:15 AM)
argument when macaca first hit?  Sorry, it does have legs.  And a U.S. Senator using obscure racial taunts in a bullying manner against the only non-white in a crowd does matter.

To your other point, there are roughly 4,500 posts on this site.  If you take a look around you will find that they cover many topics and issues.

Back to the CCC topic (Eric - 9/15/2006 9:33:44 AM)
Given the fuss that some Democrats have raised over Allen's ties to the CCC, it seems odd that they'd so blatantly push those letters on a mailer.

I guess they're hoping that most Virginians will never hear about the CCC photo op.

This sounds like Colbert material - hidden messages coded in innocent looking mailers.

Money Talks (Teddy - 9/15/2006 9:47:09 AM)
The slick, Madison-Avenue-style flyer is apparently just one more from the Republican mass-generated publicity machine. Scarcely a statement in it cannot be refuted or shown to be misrepresentation or gross distortion. But the foolishness will be repeated ad nauseum, like a nerve-racking merchanising jingle until voters can recite it wothout thinking. Guess 3 C's are the keynote of his "positive" campaign.

Three C's??? What do you think the correct 3 C's for Allen are. Let's have some fun with that, and then put the CORRECTED 3 C's out repeatedly. Sort of create a little positive cognitive dissonance among the voters and disrupt Mr. Allen's college-level campaign slogan. Let's see: Craven should be one of the corrected C's since he's a draft-dodger. (Let's don't use Crapper, we want to keep it nice even if that fits). Carping is true but maybe not punchy enough.

Speaking of the CCC (Dan - 9/15/2006 11:00:08 AM)
Stephen Colbert did a bit last night where he showed the photo of Allen with the CCC.  He left out Heston in the photo, and just put Allen and the three CCC members.  The bit discussed Allen's ethnic rally.  It was hilarious.  Great to see that Allen is now a target.

Is that Colbert piece up on youtube? (Eric - 9/15/2006 11:13:25 AM)
I missed the show last night.  Sure would love to see it...
