Brilliant Ad placement, Webb team!!

It is 4th quarter of Monday Night Football.  The Redskins are in a tie game.  And the ad, with the clip of Reagan, plays.  Now, that's terrific.  And I compliment the campaign staff for this placement. Wide local viewing, well after anyone who might have watched the president's speech, and at cable tv rates.  Good job!!

I agree. (phriendlyjaime - 9/11/2006 9:49:33 PM)
I didn't see it, but I could have missed it easily, or it wasn't being played in Richmond.  Can't really say he was politicizing 911 either if he did it on cable, and on the channel that didn't go to break for Bush.  Nice work, AGAIN, Webb camp.

glad the add is running (accidentalwoman - 9/11/2006 9:55:29 PM)

It wasn't on satellite tv... (Loudoun County Dem - 9/11/2006 9:56:38 PM)
...obviously (I'm sure we got an extra nfl network ad)...

Probably 'local avail' time (Mark - 9/11/2006 10:00:52 PM)
which is controlled by whichever entity provides your service. Cable providers sell their own ads for those spots, as do satellite providers.

First time I've cheered more during the ads (MasonLee - 9/11/2006 10:11:37 PM)
than during the game...

Don't know how much it helped (DanG - 9/11/2006 10:28:51 PM)
I was pissed as hell after that game.  Not in the mood for politics.

I don't watch TV (libra - 9/11/2006 10:42:23 PM)
so don't even know whether the ad ran in our area (I think not; it wasn't scheduled for here). But, if it was placed together with the game, then the placement really was brilliant; according to the ratings, the game got the biggest share of watching (19%), with the ABC's crock-u-drama tying for the 4th (with a re-run), at 12%.

Meanwhile... (phriendlyjaime - 9/11/2006 10:53:43 PM)
George Allen has his commercials on Lifetime and Fox.

"Amateur campaign" indeed...

Lifetime? (DanG - 9/11/2006 11:04:55 PM)
Are you kidding me?  Oh man, I have to come up with something for that.  Photoshop time!

Yes, it is true. (phriendlyjaime - 9/12/2006 8:47:42 AM)
Now, let's be honest; I am the loser here who got caught up in some terrible Jennifer Beals movie about sleeping with your friends' boyfriends on Sunday while I was recovering from my Ohio State Buckeye party that went from 12pm to 3am.  So yes, I admit it; I was watching Lifetime, which is almost as bad as Allen advertising on it.  ALMOST.

Anyway, it was the commercial where he is holding that child that looks way too old to be carried around by a fake cowboy.

Hail to the Victors Valiant (Newport News Dem - 9/12/2006 3:36:45 PM)
Go Blue!!!!!

Great news! (Doug in Mount Vernon - 9/11/2006 11:39:53 PM)
Thanks for the report!  Damn I missed it.  Must have been out front talking my neighbor....

Sorry for my Redskins brethern....but (and please don't hate me because you'll have your turn at me, I'm SURE!), GOOO EEAAAGLES!!!!

......... (DanG - 9/12/2006 12:31:59 AM)
My wrath is great, oh Mount Vernon Residing Doug.

COMMENT HIDDEN (GOPats - 9/12/2006 1:29:29 AM)

No doubt you are appalled (Kathy Gerber - 9/12/2006 5:45:35 AM)
at the President who took over the prime time airwaves for free to run a lengthy gratis advertisement attempting yet again to meld regime change in Iraq with the 9/11 attacks in the face of strong evidence to the contrary.

By this "reasoning," why was there a football (Lowell - 9/12/2006 6:04:25 AM)
game on TV yesterday?  And why were you watching it? Isn't that a bit frivolous and disprespectful, again by your reasoning, on the 5th anniversary of 9/11?  Or, are you saying that our democratic political process should grind to a halt but "the show must go on?"  Strange.

Nice try (Rob - 9/12/2006 8:07:07 AM)
ads were running all over the country.  I saw Maryland ads all day yesterday bleeding into NOVA.

Felix was running ads yesterday as well... (Loudoun County Dem - 9/12/2006 8:19:08 AM)
...both Mrs. LCD & I saw it.

hahahahahah (Doug Garnett-Deakin - 9/12/2006 8:40:04 AM)
Oh Mr. Fox, please don't make me politicize 9/11... oh no, don't do that!

I know personally and deeply what 9/11 means and the president's speech was the puke on your shoes moment last night, not Webb's ad.

Ads in CA too (lwumom - 9/12/2006 9:52:12 AM)
They even had Ahnold "in the booth" at the Chargers-Raiders game last night.  He made a point of saying the Raiders coach was doing a heckuva job!  (In case you missed it--Chargers 27-Raiders 0)

jim webb is the focus of the ad (accidentalwoman - 9/12/2006 10:30:40 AM)
