Here's why I contributed to the Webb campaign...a tribute to my father, Leland WEBB McCloud

On July 10, my father, a native Texan and lifelong Democrat, passed away. A host of ailments caught up with him at age 84.

I've been trying to find a way to honor him ... donate to the Leukemia Society, which represents his last battle? Give to the university where he taught for more than 22 years and signifies his love of teaching?

The answer came to me on Labor Day and that is to contribute to someone who is fighting for the Democratic values my father stood for -- fairness (for all), equality (for all), and opportunity (for all). As a Democrat who learned Democratic values from my parents (and his father, who helped nominate FDR in 1932), contributing in my father's name to Jim Webb makes complete sense. And, isn't it fun that my Dad's name is Leland Webb McCloud? He'd like this.

Let's win it on November 7 for my Dad, the commonwealth, and the nation!
