George Allen vs. Disabled Veterans

The following was sent to me by a contributor who wishes to remain anonymous. Unfortunately, there's nothing anonymous about George Allen's disgraceful record when it comes to disabled veterans.  That alone should be reason to retire the phony "cowboy" from the U.S. Senate.

If you thought +óGé¼+ôstealing+óGé¼-¥ a bill was bad, George +óGé¼+ôBush+óGé¼-¥ Allen votes against disabled veterans.

Here are two unconscionable votes cast by Allen where he fought against funding medical care for soldiers and veterans.  This may explain why, in a close race, Allen suddenly wants to hide his anti-veteran votes.  Allen is more afraid than a cat on a hot tin roof.

10/6/05, Vote Number 251:  Allen voted against a motion +óGé¼+ôto ensure that future funding for health care for former members of the Armed Forces takes into account changes in population and inflation.+óGé¼-¥

4/12/05, Vote Number 89": Allen voted against an amendment to increase funding for the Veterans Affairs Department by $1.98 billion. It would stipulate that $840 million be used for veterans regional health networks; $610 million be used to address the needs of servicemembers deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan; and $525 million be used to provide mental health care and treatment.

Allen, who somehow managed to avoid the draft during the Vietnam War, forgot the lessons of that war and our Nation+óGé¼Gäós responsibility to care for those who defend our freedom.

Allen's voting record (David Campbell - 9/7/2006 8:19:21 PM)
Senator Allen supported the interests of the Disabled American Veterans 0% in 2004 and 50% in 2005.  That's not "supporting the troops."

More (David Campbell - 9/7/2006 8:21:14 PM)
On the votes that the The Retired Enlisted Association considered to be the most important in 2004, Senator Allen voted their preferred position 0% of the time.

Voting Against Veterans (Gordie - 9/7/2006 8:36:00 PM)
Check the record. Some of the tax cut bills for the wealthy, also has sections which cut Veterans Benefits. Most Republican's, House and Senate voted to cut Veteran Benefits thru those bills. They are all guilty of cutting funds for Vets.

Hey, give him time; he's improving :) He's traversing his personal road to Damascus so fast, he has to bump off other travellers (Durbin)
