Hurst vs. Davis: Report from Fairfax

I received this from a reader and was asked to pass it along.  Pretty obvious who wants this seat more, huh? And it ain't Tom "DeLay" Davis, that's for sure!
Andy Hurst walked through and spoke with the residents of Country Club Hills Monday afternoon during our annual picnic.  Even though there were occasional light sprinkles, turnout was good at around 100 people.  Andy brought his family, who played, ate, and had a good time.  A solid 20 percent of the adults work Hurst stickers.  We had Hurst and Webb campaign signs put up in our neighborhood yesterday.

In contrast, Tom +óGé¼+ôDeLay+óGé¼-¥ Davis showed up at the end, spoke with a few people, and he was accompanied by five campaign staff who stood around doing absolutely nothing.  No one wore a Davis sticker.  Then it began to rain, so Davis left.  His wife showed up at the very end.  Davis introduced her as the Senator who campaigned for her seat in her own right  (yea, he means he bought it for her).  In addition, one Davis campaign worker showed up at 4pm and walked up and down the street in his bright red shirt.  After I asked around someone said he was a Davis campaigner.  Strangely, he never handed out literature or spoke with anyone.  Davis must have money burn if he has folks doing nothing for hours.

Davis out this AM (Arlington Mike - 9/5/2006 11:41:39 AM)
Interestingly, a co-worker said she saw Davis this morning at the Dunn Loring Metro station doing some meet-n-greet, handshaking stuff.

Paid for with your tax dollars? (Andrea Chamblee - 9/5/2006 11:58:58 AM)
Davis sent out campaign material last month paid for with tax dollars - at least he said it was voter information but it has the same info as his campaign material, but with the "paid for at taxpayer expense" phrase printed on it.  I'm sure Davis found a way to spin the presence of Congressional staff at a local event as “constituent services,†paid for by YOU.
