Rejected Allen Ads

George Allen is about to flood the airwaves with some curiously dull ads.  Here's a short list of rejected possibilities. (Note: the writer is president of the Ad Campaign Fantasy League.)

Ad touting legislative accomplishments, but television stations wanted something longer than six seconds.

"Because when it comes to protecting America, George Allen has the most experience in sending your daughters and sons off to war."

Ad with John McCain, except when they tried that in Norfolk McCain looked like he regretted being there.  (For a picture of the happiest photo they could get from McCain see Allen+óGé¼Gäós website --if you click on the main page picture you+óGé¼Gäóll see that in each pic it looks like McCain is having moral dyspepsia.)

Allen in full Confederate regalia, singing Hurrah for the South.  May still be aired in select local markets.

Ad touting his 97% Bush voting record, with the tagline +óGé¼+ô35% of Americans can+óGé¼Gäót be wrong.+óGé¼-¥

"Hey, Virginians, incumbents with a big war chest aren+óGé¼Gäót supposed to lose, so vote for me"

"Because Virginians want a Senator who will spend the next two years in Iowa and New Hampshire instead of representing them . . . after all, isn+óGé¼Gäót this what +óGé¼-£reducing the size of government+óGé¼Gäó is all about?+óGé¼-¥
