George Allen's Record Begs the Question

George "The Fallen" Allen gives Virginians "cause for pause."  Allen's abysmal voting record correlates with the attitude displayed in his macaca remarks.

Vote #00007--Allen voted "NO" to support the health needs of veterans and military personnel and to reduce the deficit by making tax rates fair for all Americans.

Vote #00039--Allen voted "NO" to support college access and job training by: 1) restoring program cuts slated for vocational education, TRIO, GEAR UP, Perkins loans and other student aid programs, 2) increasing investment in student aid programs, including increasing the maximum Pell Grant to $4500, and 3) restoring cuts slated for job training programs; paid for by closing $6.3 billion in corporate tax loopholes.

Vote #00041--Allen voted "NO" to increase veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes.

Vote #00042--Allen voted "NO" to make energy more affordable and sustainable, to increase our national security through foreign oil replacement with biofuels and alternative fuels and advanced/hybrid vehicle use, to accelerate production and market penetration of clean and renewable energy technologies and generation, and to more fully utilize energy efficiency and conservation technologies and practices.

Vote #00043--Allen voted "NO" to restore funding for the Community Development Block Grant Program to the fiscal 2004 level by closing tax loopholes previously slated for elimination in Senate-passed legistlation.

The list goes on:  Allen voted against increased funding for our first responders (fire fighters, police officers, and EMT's), increased port security, funding mass transit (Amtrak), funding for an Avian Flu vaccine for ALL Americans, Low-Income Energy Assistance, to restore funding for the Corps of Engineers, the National Park Service, the Forest Service, and the NOAA--ALL because these appropriations amendments required closing of tax loopholes for corporations or the wealthiest of Americans.

When I see a quote from someone in a newspaper article supporting Felix with the comment "his record speaks for itself," I know that they have no freaking idea what they're talking about.  It's very frustrating.
