The Second James Webb Web Spot

I did another :10-second spot in the "boot" series and I'll probably do a few more before I'm done -- I already have tomorrow's in my head! I set up a channel on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.c...
or go directly to the video link:
http://youtube.com/w...

I changed the video, so here is the *real* link. Really.

I'm going to be adding a lot of videos to YouTube -- I'm in the process of converting them to the format they recommend. I'm a little worried about making a whole bunch of these announcements (don't want to be a bandwidth hog and wear out my welcome!), so this one will serve to tell you that in the next few days, I'll be posting:

1) two videos from the 9/05 antiwar demonstrations in L.A.
2) five videos from '04 presidential campaign to register progressive voters;
3) two videos from Skid Row/L.A.;
4) five videos from Baghdad, 2003, right after the US invasion -- a totally different version of this footage appeared on ABC Nightline (all good, just different);
5) two videos of Richard Walden, exec director of Operation USA, progressive medical aid NGO, one discussing how Bush admin paid back its religious right allies by streaming Katrina cash to them, the other about the group's medical aid shipment to Lebanon.

If you want to get notified as I add these videos, you can subscribe to the channel on YouTube.

You rock, Roadette! (Lowell - 8/27/2006 5:26:10 PM)

And we roll...thanks to all the netroots' hard work! (roadette - 8/27/2006 5:27:33 PM)

One quibble (DukieDem - 8/27/2006 7:25:29 PM)
It says George Allen D-VA....

It should read... (Loudoun County Dem - 8/27/2006 8:13:09 PM)
...George Allen (KKK-VA)...

duhhhhhhh (roadette - 8/27/2006 8:52:19 PM)
Roadette slaps forehead with heel of hand.
Ratz. I'll change it...and I like KKK-Va.

that'll do it. It'll take about a half hour.

Thanks for the catch!

Roadette

George Allen (D-Va) is now....(KKK-Va) (roadette - 8/27/2006 9:40:11 PM)
I just couldn't resist. Thanks for the suggestion. It's posted.

George Allen (D-Va) is now....(KKK-Va) (Alicia - 8/27/2006 9:58:43 PM)
that is cracking me up!

That KKK could backfire. (thegools - 8/27/2006 11:13:59 PM)
When I watched it it seemed to claim Allen was in the KKK.  He was not.  If seen as an accusation it could backfire.

I'm a videoblogger, not a campaign worker! (roadette - 8/28/2006 1:42:20 AM)
I don't think I'm worried..but let me think
it over. It was pretty funny to do, but maybe
you're right.

Kossacks? What do you think?

I'll ask around and if there's a sense it might
be a problem, I'll change it.

Thanks for the heads up!

It makes it look like Allen is in the KKK- not true, and incendiary. (RayH - 8/28/2006 8:48:32 AM)
I hope you change the KKK reference, but like it otherwise! Hope Webb gets lots of notice from these.

two votes for changing kkk (roadette - 8/28/2006 11:38:22 AM)
Thank you for thinking about this issue.

My question to you is:  Do the Rethugs care that they are incendiary? Swiftboating is their stock in trade and they don't give a damn about opinion, let alone truth.

To me, saying that GA is KKK is simply saying that he is a racist, not that he is a card-carrying member of a (mostly) defunct organization. It draws attention to his predilection for racist symbols as well as the recent macaca incident.

BUT, if a few more people think this is *really* trouble, I will change it.

Again, thanks for your guidance. I'll wait for a few more votes and then change it...or not!

Happy highways, Roadette

Our actions must not be based upon what Republicans would do (RayH - 8/28/2006 12:21:25 PM)

G.A. took the low road by appealing to racial bigotry. His remarks hurt Virginia by reinforcing an old stereotype of intollerant southern states. Raising the spectre of the KKK revives that ugly image. We don't want to bury the truth about the history of Virginia, nor do we want to indulge prejudiced attitudes of the sort of people who refuse to cross the Potomac into VA.

It is up to us to raise the standard for acceptable behavior in the public arena by telling the truth. We've got plenty of ammo to destroy GA's record without resorting to the kind of speculation, half-truths, guilt by association, etc., that LaCivita et al use. That's why I ask that you modify what would otherwise be a terrific ad.

You're right -- it's changed and reposted (roadette - 8/28/2006 10:51:53 PM)
Sometimes I just get carried away. I appreciate the guidance and I will try to keep my enthusiasm and outrage in bounds. In any case, the spot now has the title:  George Allen, (former) R-Va.

The "former" is in parenthesis because it isn't true...yet.
