Jim Webb
In an age when Myspace.com trumps everything else in people's lives 18-25.

I started a Myspace page for Jim a few weeks before the primary against Harris Miller.

Everyone knows the poll numbers, the biggest swing in support is within young voters.

The DNC's Executive Director Tom McMahon
sent a mailer off on Friday, I checked my email today and there it was "The Plan: Winning young voters"

That's what the DNC thinks can decide 2006, the funny thing is.. it's what I wrote about on Kos, and Raising Kaine about a week ago.
The truth is, they can decide 2006.

How much are we willig to work to get the youth out to vote on November 7th?

The real question is how bad do we really want to win? How much does controlling both houses mean to us?

It's within our reach, both the house and the senate are not impossible to take back this year.

When I talked about the youth vote a week ago, there was praise, there was doubt, and there were critics. But, no solution.

Now the DNC is putting it on top of their priorites. Working on setting up shop with the MTV Generation.

I've said it before, we are the future.

Why not help get us to the polls now?

In Virginia, I am trying to plan a "Election Day Rock Concert".

I have friends that play in bands from my native California. I thought, why not reach out to up and coming bands in Virginia?

And I did..

I got a overwhelming response, they want to contribute. These are college aged kids with instruments, and passion that want to help make a difference.

It may not be too late, use Myspace, Facebook, Friendster or whatever you can to energize young people all across America.

Several 2008 Potential Candidates already have Myspace pages. Tapping into this new constituency that could help carry them to the Oval Office.

Most of my generation are already liberal.

*We are against the war.

*We are for universal health care.

*We are for cheaper gas.

You see even comedians such as Carlos Mencia, Dave Chappell, and others invoking politics in frequent routines.

You see late night comics poke fun at polticians, and others like Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.

AGAIN, THE YOUTH CAN HELP DECIDE ELECTIONS!

So what are you gonna do about it???

But don't take it from me, In the DNC's words:

"In the 2004 election, Democrats snatched New Hampshire out of the red column -- dashing Republican hopes of locking up more red state votes. Democrats also fought and won Minnesota, blocking Republican plans on making inroads in the Midwest.

Who saved the Democrats in those states? Young voters: Americans between ages 18 and 24. That year, most of them voted for president for the first time -- they saw so much at stake that they went to the polls in record numbers."

"It's basic. But it's hard work -- and it matters. In close elections, young people can make the difference between winning and losing.

Want proof? Look to Virginia last year -- where Tim Kaine campaigned hard to keep the governor's mansion in Democratic hands.

Aggressive youth turnout efforts led to a 15 percent jump in the number of votes cast precincts heavily populated by college students -- at the same time as Kaine went and racked up an even larger margin of victory than Democrats did in 2001"

"Want more proof? Take New Jersey -- the other state with an election for governor last year.

There, the work of organizers paid off with a surge of 20 percent in the number of votes cast in college precincts -- a push that helped to put Jon Corzine in the governor's office."

The choice is up to you.
