Steve Jarding: George Allen is NOT a Nice Guy, He's a Bully

Steve Jarding was great on Hardball yesterday afternoon.  Here's Jarding on Allen's "apology":

George Allen apparently polled on this...if he's got to take a poll to figure out whether he should apologize...

'Nuff said, in other words.  If you have to take a poll to see whether or not you should apologize, it's NOT A SINCERE APOLOGY!

Jarding then goes on to talk about Allen campaign manager Dick Wadhams' strategy to turn George Allen into a "martyr."  Jarding scoffs at that, commenting that "it's on tape, for God's sake."

More Jarding:

I think this is where it hurst Allen the most.  If you ask people before this tape, name one thing about George Allen that you like, they'll say 'I think he's a nice guy.'  You watch that tape, that's not a nice guy...He's a bully. He's a mean-spirited man.

And this, also about the "macaca" incident:

I think it's a problem because it shows George Allen...true personality of George Allen.  He's not this nice guy he's cultivated...this whole cowboy shtick...this whole, 'I'm likeable.' That tape, there was nothing likeable on it.

Great stuff, watch the entire video here.  God, I love YouTube! :)

nice job (Arlington Mike - 8/26/2006 2:06:23 PM)
Nice job by Jarding in dealing with Matthews, who cares way more about hearing himself talk than actually interviewing someone, engaging in a discussion, presenting issues.

He mentioned the name of the mystery campaign Sidarth was volunteering for... (snolan - 8/26/2006 3:43:38 PM)
Kudos to Jarding for mentioning Webb's name as well.  Our local PBS radio stations can't even do that much (they keep repeating "Allen's opponent" right out of the Republican play book).  Jarding clearly identified that Sidarth was a volunteer with the Webb campaign, and he reminded us that yes it was that Jim Webb who was Reagan's Secretary of the Navy.

Disclaimer - I don't usually watch that show - but excerpts were repeated on News8 during the day and I was working from home and caught it out of the corner of my eye.

Jarding Did a Great Job (Elaine in Roanoke - 8/26/2006 7:59:20 PM)
Steve Jarding did an excellent job, considering that Chris Mathews decied to fall back into his "interrupt the guest and act like the show is pro wrestling" in his questioning. Mathews is such a twerp. Hey, Chris, your words are NOT golden.
