This Should be Interesting....

According to the Hotline blog:

Meanwhile, a tipster passed along this e-mail from GOP activist Doug Jones:

President Bush will be attending a fundraiser for Senator George Allen in Mt. Vernon this afternoon. The Democrats are planning a protest demonstration.

This is a call to arms for all loyal Republicans to rally in support of our Commander in Chief and Senator Allen.

Ground zero is the intersection of Mt. Vernon Memorial Hwy. and Ferry Landing Road. Parking is available at Grist Mill Park which is 200 feet from this intersection. Grist Mill Park is halfway between Mt. Vernon Estate and Woodlawn Plantation.

We need as many folks as possible to show up at 3:45 pm. I am anticipating the President's arrival somewhere between 4:45 and 5:30pm. If you have Bush or Allen yardsigns please bring them.

I love it, "a call to arms for all loyal Republicans to rally in support of our Commander in Chief and Senator Allen."  Yeah, and while you're rallying for our great Commander in Chief, maybe you can explain the following:

*The Iraq debacle
*The Katrina debacle
*Massive budget deficits
*Federal spending through the roof
*An out-of-control, Republican culture of corruption
*Endemic racism in your party ("macaca")
*Where's Osama?
*Iran's nuclear program
*Chaos in the Middle East
*North Korea's nuclear program
*BushAllen's position on crucial stem cell research
*BushAllen's position on global warming
*Bush vs. Allen on immigration
*Plamegate
*How we're going to kick our "oil addiction"
*Spying on ordinary Americans without warrants

I could go on, but I don't have all day.  I've got to get ready to protest our great Commander in Chief and his 97% rubberstamp Senator, aka George Felix Allen.

He still hasn't apologized to Sidarth Either (PM - 8/23/2006 2:04:52 PM)
As Mark Potok of the Souther Law Poverty Center said:

"I think we're seeing the real George Allen. I think that this is not some freak moment. It’s not a psychotic break. This is what the man really is."  http://www.democracy...

p.s.  Bush and Santorum have endorsed the Republican Congressman from Pa. (Sherwood) who, though married and with children, had a five year long affair, which was exposed after his mistress called police and said he was physically abusing her.  A lawsuit she brought against Sherwood was settled out of court.

FAMILY VALUES!  ARRRGH!

Whoops, he has. Finally. (PM - 8/23/2006 2:09:58 PM)
Wed, Aug. 23: Twelve Days Later, After Numerous Excuses and Apologies to Everyone But Sidarth, Senator Allen Calls S.R. Sidarth to Apologize. [Phone call, 8/23/06]

that's not to bright (Rob - 8/23/2006 2:22:30 PM)
if they want to bring more attention to the allen-bush connection, I'm all for that!

Let the media know - have the cameras and notepads ready...

oops (Rob - 8/23/2006 2:25:03 PM)
"not TOO bright" (unfortunately ironic misspelling)

Probably not you error (Susan Mariner - 8/23/2006 3:05:29 PM)
Spell check probably self-corrected, as it doesn't recognize the words "too bright" as able to exist in the same sentence with those two names  :-)

I wish I could go. (phriendlyjaime - 8/23/2006 2:32:26 PM)
Lowell, I will be there in spirit.  And my spirit will be unphriendly.

Take pics, take video, make cool signs, and tell him how we feel.

Has anyone crossposted this and the final apology yet?

Heading Out There Now... (Doug in Mount Vernon - 8/23/2006 2:57:03 PM)
Well, I'm heading out there now as I stop at Office Depot on the way to make my signs....

Go JIM WEBB!!!

Let's show Allen that Mt. Vernon is for WEBB!!

Thanks Doug!! (Susan Mariner - 8/23/2006 3:02:22 PM)
Have a good time while you're at it.

Not well-published, for a reason (Andrea Chamblee - 8/23/2006 3:42:16 PM)
True to the pseudo-loyalty of today's incumbent Republicans, they don't publicize their meetings with Bush or Cheney because those two are so unpopular.  They just worship the money they bring in: it's more of the new "old time religion."

RE: Completely lost . . . (JPTERP - 8/23/2006 5:04:51 PM)
Drove down GW parkway but couldn't find the site.  I did see some guy parked in a ice-cream truck covered with Allen signs (he was hiding alone in the far corner of a parking lot near George Washington's Mt. Vernon home and museum).

hmm.. (Kathy Gerber - 8/23/2006 6:18:14 PM)
On the way to work this a.m. we saw several cars with Allen stickers.  That's unusual.  I wonder if they were headed up there... let us know how it went!
