The Apocalypse Strategy

Up against the ropes, the Republic party nationwide is going to pull out their most desperate plan:  The Apocalypse Strategy.

The political apocalypse strategy

Then there is the attention being paid+óGé¼GÇ¥and it+óGé¼Gäós just starting+óGé¼GÇ¥to obscure Democratic characters such as Rep. John Conyers of Michigan. As of now, only political junkies know that Conyers, an African-American and old-school liberal from Detroit, would become chairman of the Judiciary Committee if the Democrats regain control of the House. Few know that Conyers has expressed interest in holding hearings on the impeachment of the president.

But before this election season is over, Republican and conservative voters are going to know a lot about Conyers. To hear the GOP tell it, the impeachment of the president will be the No. 1 priority if Conyers gets his say, which of course Rep. Nancy Pelosi will be only too happy to give him. The aim will be to rally the GOP base with talk of a political apocalypse.

Since the Republicans have absolutely nothing positive to run on and since conservatism has proven itself a failure in practice, what can you expect from Republicans? Doom and Gloom and warnings of impending apocalypse when they inevitably lose their domination of every aspect of the US government.

Apocalyptic language and imagery consistent in Bush message (RayH - 9/6/2006 9:48:54 AM)

The "Apocalyptic Strategy" is consistent with the rhetoric of neocons in the Bush administration, Congress, and The Decider himself. The forces of Good at war with Evil, fighting for a final, decisive victory. That's apocalyptic language, and it is the language of George Bush.

Sometimes I think Bush fancies himself as a special instrument of God, sent with the purpose of preparing the way for ushering in the Second Coming of Christ. That sort of thinking on his part would play well in the hands of neocons, who simply want to rally everyone in the country to fall in line behind them in a fight against a common enemy- and any enemy will do, as long as we conform and give them power. They have proven to be willing to go to any length to convince the public that we must conform and support their power structure or be doomed to destruction.

George Allen is a two-bit, tin horn, "me too" player in all of this, following along with the script. Fortunately, America is waking up, and beginning to question these grand apocalyptic claims, due to the fact that so much of the leadership offered by this government is an obvious failure.
