George Allen: "F" on Genocide

Yesterday, the Genocide Intervention Network, an organization dedicated to empowering individuals throughout the country to stop genocide, released Darfur congressional scorecards, grading members of Congress on their action to stop the genocide in Darfur.  These scores included Virginia's Congressional delegation.  How did George "Macaca" Allen do on stopping genocide against Africans in Sudan?  One guess.  Yes, that's right, George Allen gets an "F" on Darfur:

...for not supporting a single piece of Darfur legislation or casting any favorable votes to stop the genocide in Darfur. This person has the power to protect civilians in Darfur, yet is doing nothing.

Why am I not surprised?  George Allen hasn't taken the lead on anything else in the Senate during his 6 years of being "bored" there and watching it move "at the pace of a wounded sea slug."  And, as we've seen yet AGAIN recently (with his "macaca" comments), Allen's obviously got racist tendencies.  Finally, Allen doesn't care about poor people.  So, why on earth would we expect George Allen to care about genocide against a bunch of poor, black people in Africa?

Obviously, Allen does NOT care about poor black people in African, based on his "F" score from the Genocide Intervention Network.  Now, if those poor suckers had MONEY and gave it to Allen's campaign, that might be a different story.  But frankly, Allen doesn't care about poor people, working people, or middle class people - black, white, brown, whatever - in THIS country.  So no big surprise that he doesn't care about the worst genocide of the 21st century, taking place right now in Darfur, Sudan.  Maybe if they lived in the "real Virginia..."  Ugh.

P.S. The Genocide Intervention Network urges that you call George Allen and tell him "to vote in favor of future Darfur-related bills that contribute toward peacekeeping efforts in the region."  Phone (202) 224-4024 or send an e-mail.  Thanks.
