Judy Feder (D), who is running for Congress in the 10th CD against Frank Wolf (R), has called on Wolf to denounce George Allen's "derogatory remarks" against S.R. Sidarth, a Webb for Senate intern of South Asian ancestry. Great job by Judy Feder and the Feder campaign, including new campaign manager Scott Arceneaux - you guys rock!  Now, as far as I'm concerned, EVERY Democratic candidate should call on EVERY Republican candidate to denounced George Allen's "derogatory" (aka, racist) remarks.  Meanwhile, let's see what Frank Wolf "in sheep's clothing" has to say - if anything - about this.

Feder Calls on Wolf to Denounce Allen+óGé¼Gäós Derogatory Remarks Targeting Fellow Virginian

Sterling, VA+óGé¼GÇ¥Judy Feder, candidate to represent Virginia+óGé¼Gäós 10th Congressional District, today called on Congressman Frank Wolf to join her in condemning Senator George Allen+óGé¼Gäós derogatory remarks aimed at an Indian-American.

At a southwest Virginia rally on Friday, Allen repeatedly referred to an Indian-American attendee+óGé¼GÇ¥Fairfax County native S.R. Sidarth+óGé¼GÇ¥by the derogatory epithet +óGé¼+ômacaca.+óGé¼-¥ +óGé¼+ôLet+óGé¼Gäós give a big welcome to Macaca, here. Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia+óGé¼-¥ [Washington Post, 8/15].

+óGé¼+ôThese remarks are unacceptable in the Virginia of today. Virginia is home of the Bill of Rights and has a proud tradition of tolerance, and the state is home to many people whose ancestors are from around the world,+óGé¼-¥ Feder said. +óGé¼+ôIt is shameful that Senator Allen would insult a Virginian because of his race or heritage. I ask Congressman Wolf to join all Virginians in condemning Allen+óGé¼Gäós hateful remarks.+óGé¼-¥

Feder continued, +óGé¼+ôSenator Allen+óGé¼Gäós remarks show why we so desperately need change in Washington and why we need to hold our elected officials accountable for their actions.+óGé¼-¥

AWESOME (Arlington Mike - 8/15/2006 2:29:30 PM)
This is awesome, exactly what I suggested in another thread (I'll cut and paste that post below).  I'd like to see others do this.  This is the type of move that Republicans always turn towards Dems, forcing them to either denounce a member of their own party, or stand by and NOT denounce something potentially inflammatory or offensive.

Great move by Feder's campaign, esp. up here in Northern Virginia.

FROM THE OTHER THREAD (http://www.raisingka...):

Can other campaigns use this issue too? (4.00 / 1)

One of the things that happened in the Drake-Kellam campaign is that Drake's team called on Kellam to reject the DCCC ad that included Americans' coffins, making a big to-do about Democrats insensitivity and politicization of the issue.  They didn't raise nearly the noise when Sen. DeWine (OH) used 9/11 images in a campaign ad.

Can some other campaigns, like Hurst, Kellam, Feder, etc., issue statements rejecting Allen's comments, proclaiming that they are committed to leading based on the openness and inclusiveness that should define Virginia's values, and calling on their own opponents to reject Allen's offensive racist statements?  I'd like to see other campaigns - if it's helpful - use this to point out that Republicans should not put forth these values of hate and ignorance towards immigrants and minorities, calling on GOP candidates to reject Allen's actions and sentiments.

But, I'm no campaign strategist, so I'm curious to see what others think...
