George Allen Ducks Debates

From the Webb campaign, here we go again with yet another Republican ducking debates.  Didn't we just go through this last year with Jerry "the Duck" Kilgore?  Ahhhh...memories.

(Arlington, VA) U.S. Senator George Allen is refusing to debate Jim Webb before the Prince William Committee of 100, a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to providing open discussions about the essential issues and problems facing Virginia residents.

There is no good reason George Allen can give for ducking the Prince William Committee of 100 debate. The date is open ended, the topics to debate are open ended, and the format is open ended,+óGé¼-¥ said Webb spokesman Steve Jarding.

+óGé¼+ôGeorge Allen won+óGé¼Gäót debate Jim Webb because Webb exposed Allen in their first debate as someone who is woefully out of touch with Virginians. George Allen cannot defend his record in which he has given himself $32,000 in pay raises while he has opposed raising the minimum wage four times. George Allen cannot defend his $44 billion in tax breaks to the oil and energy industries while he pocketed $800,000 from them in campaign contributions. The list goes on and on. The truth is George Allen won+óGé¼Gäót debate Jim Webb because George Allen fears that Virginians will find out the truth about his record,+óGé¼-¥ said Jarding.

Jarding also pointed out that Allen+óGé¼Gäós performance in the first debate with Webb was shaky at best. In that debate, Allen seemed to forget his opening statement, refused to answer several of the questions while he stumbled through many of the others, and irrelevantly rambled on about the Barbary pirates in a question that asked him why he opposed raising the minimum wage.

+óGé¼+ôGeorge Allen came off as programmed, robotic and uncomfortable in the first debate. His +óGé¼-£aw shucks+óGé¼Gäó shtick is wearing thin. The audience at the Bar Association debate saw that, reacted to it, and it exposed Allen, throwing him off his calculated game. I wouldn+óGé¼Gäót want to debate either if I were claiming to be the emperor while I had no clothes,+óGé¼-¥ said Jarding.

The tide is turning (bladerunner - 8/11/2006 3:07:03 PM)
I think Felix Allen has figured out that this year he's better off isolating himself, cause he knows the tide is turning against him and his facist compadres.

Opportunity Knocks (DukieDem - 8/11/2006 4:46:25 PM)
I think Webb should just show up by himself and take questions from the audience. I think it would prove he has nothing to hide and he isn't afraid to share his positions on the issues. Anyone else agree?

good idea About showing up (bladerunner - 8/11/2006 6:26:29 PM)
I don't know how many debates he'll skip out on, but if it gets to be a regular pattern, it would be a good idea for Webb to show up and take questions.

Jerry the Duck (Lowell - 8/11/2006 5:41:21 PM)
Does anyone have that bad boy? I'd love to see and hear it one more time, for old time's sake.  Quack quack.

Checked the Wayback machine (Eric - 8/11/2006 6:40:05 PM)
and our own archives.  Found your write up, but nothing on the wayback.  Hmmmm....

Too bad if the duck is lost.  Maybe Jerry took it with him for future use.

OK, I'm gonna modify my offer. (Bubby - 8/11/2006 7:59:54 PM)
I will carry Jim Webb on my back to every whistle stop, truck stop, loading dock on George Allen's "listening" tour - so as Jim and all of Virginia can get some answers.

Senator Allen, America is a democracy, you are priveleged to represent me dude, start answering the questions of your constituents.  Accountability is the cowboy way ya' know.

Isn't Money Supposed To Talk? (mosquitopest - 8/11/2006 9:38:32 PM)
I thought "money talks" and surely George "wannabe" believes this.  He works so hard to get those powerful elites and corporations to give him money.

You'd think with all that money George Allen would be "itchin'" to talk with Jim Webb anytime and anyplace!

Buzz...Buzz...

Felix Afraid? (drmontoya - 8/11/2006 9:54:04 PM)
Of course he is.

He knows he unfairly won the first debate, and we want payback!!!!!
