I went to the Alexandria JJ Dinner last night as a guest of some very kind people who extended a hand to about two dozen "young folk" like me and gave us "scholarships" to attend.  Special thanks to Eric Graves (ADC and VGC), John Biechman (ADC), Don Beyer (ADC), Karen Gautney (AGLCA and ADC), Martha Mountain (AFL-CIO and VGC), and Matt Harris (ADC and CWA).

The page in the program about us read:

A Very Special Thank You to Some Very Special People

On Primary Election Day, June 14, 2005, a group of very committed Democrats hatched a marvelous idea -- JJ Dinner Scholarships for young campaign workers who might not otherwise be able to attend a dinner like this.  Our donors hope to make his contribution an annual event.

Seated among you tonight are almost 30 young grassroots volunteers who worked on the Democratic Priamry Campaigns in Alexandria.  We salute their dedication to Democrats and to Democracy!

To the folks who paid my way last night, thank you very much.

PS: I'm studying for finals and putting together the details of my Boy Scout Eagle project, but I'll get a write up of Tim Kaine's remarks and a special musical interlude, posted as soon as I can.
