George Allen's "Listening Tour"

George Allen is kicking off his "listening tour" on Monday, August 7. The public schedule
is available here.

Now, this is just an unofficial and friendly suggestion, but is there is absolutely any reason why ALL Virginians, including DEMOCRATS and WEBB SUPPORTERS, can't be at these events to tell George Allen what's on their minds?  Also, there's no reason why Virginians can't let George Allen know, respectfully, that he is NOT listening to THEM. Hell, there's even no reason why people can't express their displeasure with George Allen by showing up with signs that say "I need a cure for my disease; why are you blocking stem cell research that could cure me" and stuff like that.

As I said, this is just a friendly suggestion, but why on earth should we let George Allen tool around Virginia surrounding himself only with hand-picked audiences everywhere he goes?  Sort of like his political role model, George W. Bush always does?  Hmmmm.

Comments

I'll be at a couple events in SWVA... (va.walter - 8/4/2006 4:33:00 PM)
as I have for a few years.  As they say "keep your friends close and your enemies closer."  It's always good to know what the "bad guys" are up to.  I will disagree with one thing you said Lowell; I think most of these events are open to the public and get media coverage ahead of time so they aren't really "hand-picked audiences" (some obviously are).  Nonetheless, I'm always one of the few "good guys" in the audience.

The Galax Fiddlers Convention? (Bubby - 8/4/2006 4:49:58 PM)
On August 12, will definitely be a public affair.  He can run, but he can't hide.

Not Much for Northern VA (RayH - 8/4/2006 4:52:01 PM)
Fredericksburg is as close as he'll get to Northern Virginia.

He must not want to listen to us.

No, he's generally staying in "red" territory (Lowell - 8/4/2006 5:17:54 PM)
Or at least, formerly "red" territory after this race is over! :)

It's a 3 week tour. (va.walter - 8/4/2006 8:48:11 PM)
This is just the first week schedule.  Over the course of the 3 weeks he'll cover enough ground that he should come to all of our areas.

How D=does he take his questions? (Teddy - 8/4/2006 6:05:17 PM)
In written form in advance? Verbally, but only from blue-shirted Allen supporters or folks with Allen stickers on? What would be some discombulating questions suitable for the honorable Senator?

Try This (DukieDem - 8/4/2006 6:57:10 PM)
1. Ask him if he's learned who Bernanke is yet.

2. Ask him why he supported a minimum wage increase that didn't help small businesses.

3. Ask him if he beleives summer temperatures this outrageously hot are 'natural'.

Or this (Fluvanna Democrat - 8/4/2006 7:42:05 PM)
Ask him if his sister is telling the truth about throwing his brother through the door and dangling her by her heels?

Allen's visit to Westminster canterbury (martha - 8/4/2006 7:01:23 PM)
Join the LDC on VES Road as we "greet" Allen and Company to Lynchburg. He will be addressing the Chamber of Commerce at a $20 a person luncheon.
This is a pro WEBB rally. Make a sign and join us at 11 AM.

The "listening" tour (hereinva - 8/4/2006 9:07:33 PM)
Apparently many of the stops take place at private businesses including a country club (Fredericksburg) a power company, and even a multinational chemical company (Dupont Richmond).
While at Dupont, whose moniker is "Miracles of Science"(reg trade), GFA may learn that scientific study leads to many great new discoveries that can benefit mankind...such as.... stemcell research and alternative energy resources.

Ask him why there are increasing tax breaks (summercat - 8/5/2006 9:28:34 AM)
to buy gas-guzzling SUV's, and decreasing ones to buy hybirds.
