Ducking, Dodging, Flip-Flopping, and Waffling: The Jerry Kilgore Way

That Jerry Kilgore is scared to death of his opponents, Tim Kaine and Russ Potts, is beyond doubt at this point.  For months now, Krybaby Kilgore has been "ducking" head-to-head debates with Tim Kaine.  The latest example of this was Kilgore's dodging the offer by NRA Radio's Cam Edwards for Kilgore and Kaine to debate gun issues on his show.  Jerry "the Duck's" response?  "Well, there will be plenty of opportunities for us to debate the gun issue. "  Yeah, right, Jerry.

Now, Kilgore is refusing to debate Independent Republican candidate Russ Potts,  a man who's just as conservative as Kilgore in many ways, but with more brains and personality than the entire Right-Wing Republican ticket put together.  It's gotten so bad at thisp point, as spring kicks over into summer, that the Staunton News Leader has even started referring to Kilgore as "the artless dodger," a candidate who...

...wants to dodge hard questions about real issues. [Kilgore's] campaign is all about control, delivering scripted messages, and staying within a personal comfort zone. Shutting Sen. Russ Potts out of debates is just more of the same.

Furthermore, the News Leader points out that Kilgore's ducking is also "flip flopping," since back in 1992 Kilgore criticized Democratic Congressman Rick Boucher for refusing to debate Republican candidate Gary Weddle.  Yep, ducking and flip-flopping:  that's our Jerry Boy!

Today, the the Washington Post has an editorial claiming that Kilgore is simply trying to "rig" the debates by excluding Potts and to "make him disappear" like a right-wing, Third World dictator or something.  The Post argues that Potts should be included, if for no other reason than that his "plain-spoken delivery brings a sensible, lucid approach to the issues "  The Post adds:

Mr. Kilgore may prefer a scripted and stage-managed campaign with few debates, but voters deserve a freewheeling exchange that sheds light on each candidate's grasp of the issues and quality of thinking.

and concludes:

Voters are entitled to the benefit of his views. If Mr. Kilgore lacks the confidence to debate Mr. Potts, does he really possess the self-assurance to govern?(emphasis added)

Good questions.  Now, will we ever get answers from the Kilgore campaign, or just more of the usual ducking, dodging, weaving, waffling, flip flopping, and name calling from this weak-kneed bunch of carpetbagging crybabies?

By the way, Jerry, what's your position again on   And why won't you sign the State Taxpayer Protection Pledge if you're such a "true conservative?"

The thing is, these are just a couple of questions that Tim Kaine and Russ Potts might ask Jerry Kilgore at a debate.  Could this be why he's so afraid to face them?  Gee, I wonder!

Investigative report (Teddy - 4/4/2006 11:27:07 PM)
Investigative reporter Russ Baker, writing on TomPaine.com has a revelation (but one which does not surprise long-time BushBoy watchers): adolescent-like, G.W. wanted to be a "glorious wartime president" even before he got elect--- I mean, appointed to be President. He felt only a successful, large scale war would earn him a spot in history (i.e., not a penny ante war like Grenada for Reagan). So, folks, all those thousands have died or been maimed, all that treasure has been wasted, a country was destroyed, our international reputation besmirched, and our budget busted for that---  not even for oil, but for little George's macho dreams of glory. Check it out at www.tompaine.com

Kilgore leave Gang V (Bob Hogan - 4/4/2006 11:27:07 PM)
Kilgore leave Gang Violence to the F.B.I. and Federal Courts. The F.B.I. are well versed in cross-state gang violence and the federal courts consider gang violence organized crime and we
already have capitol crime laws on the books in Virginia to include the death penalty,so what is your point of cracking down on Gang Violence? The only way to crack down on organized gang crime is to hire more Joint-Ventures Local Police-F.B.I Units, which cost money Kilgore.

The Right Wing Repub (Tom Joad (Kevin) - 4/4/2006 11:27:07 PM)
The Right Wing Republican Way* is built on two things, fear and ignorance.  Bush and his cronies constantly harp that we are safe in this country but use that God awful national alert system to keep us "vigilant".  Then they try to keep us ignorant by not telling us the whole truth (Gitmo, Iraq, environment...hell anything really).

Kilgore has been using fear by constantly calling Kaine a liberal even though Kaine is a moderate.  Kilgore has been selling that Kaine will take away your gun, your money, and gays will be fornicating on your front lawn before taking your daughter to get an abortion.

Kilgore also uses ignorance as a tool by not debating Kaine at all.  Kilgore wants to keep people in the dark so that they do not see the train wreck his policy proposals have become.

The same playbook is used around the country because if it ain't broke you don't fix it.  The American public is just starting to wake up to this ruse and us Virginians have to stop it cold with this election!!!
