Vote for Kellam!

And I don't mean just on Nov. 7th!

Senator John Edwards is committed to helping as many candidates as possible before November. He has already raised $6.65 million for Democrats and attended fundraisers for strong congressional candidates in more than a dozen states this election cylce.

This fall, he will headline fundraisers for two Democrats running for the House who have been selected by our online community. You decide who those candidates will be.

Vote for the candidates who will work hard to build One America that works for all of us. Choose among districts targeted by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Phil Kellam is one of the many deserving candidates in the running for an Edwards sponsored event.  Let's give our fellow Virginian Dem a boost - and help forge this aliance between two strong southern Democrats.

I'll vote for Kellam (blue32nd - 7/31/2006 10:08:15 AM)
But that's some BS, Andrew Hurst was on Edward's finance team and should be on that list too.

I hope this means that Edwards has already decided to give Andy some money and that is why he isn't in the voting options.

I was thinking that a number (Eric - 7/31/2006 10:25:57 AM)
of worthy candidates were missing, but on the site it specifies: "Choose among districts targeted by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee."

So it would appear Edwards is just pushing a select few handed down from the DCCC.

I believe JRE is using DCCC's (beachydem - 7/31/2006 10:30:24 AM)
targeted "hotly contested" districts list ?  I found a good discussion thread on his One America Blog:

Interesting that Kellam is the only Virginian on that list, but it could be that MoveOn caught the attention of the DCCC with their hard hitting "Thelma caught red-handed" campaign.

Also, Bush and Cheney have come to our district for fundraisers for her.  VA-02's made national news, especially that Thelma didn't even show up for the Bush visit!

September 26th for Hurst (Andrea Chamblee - 7/31/2006 10:21:04 AM)
Edwards has agreed to appear for Andy Hurst on Tuesday September 26th.  It lookslike it will be a breakfast.  Now that we know Tom Davis is giving away our Defense Department funds to friends at ICG instead of body armor for the troops or Homeland Security plans for the region, it's more important than ever to support Andy.

A Question (DukieDem - 7/31/2006 10:58:46 AM)
Does anyone know if Edwards and Boxer had planned this vote for the candidate fundraiser or if they are copying Warner? I'm glad to see more PAC's doing this, but I'd be interested to find out if Warner is out front as a trend setter...

I'd vote for copying (pitin - 7/31/2006 1:35:59 PM)
It's a way for them to build up thier e-mail lists, and at the same time, listen to thier supporters and support Democrats with grassroots/netroots support.  BRILLIANT, someone hand me a Guiness.

RE: That's it. (JPTERP - 8/4/2006 12:56:10 AM)
These fundraisers are win-win.  PAC organizers don't have to pay hundred of thousands for prospect mailing lists; local candidates are able to get national funding support; and the netroots can be alerted and mobilized if needed.  I believe Warner was the first to do this, so he gets credit for the innovation.
