Meetup

There are 3 different meetup groups within the commonwealth currently. I set up the NOVA meetup group a few weeks before the primary election in June.

I read online today someone mention it, I was just about to give up on the cause of meetups, but here is a one last ditch attempt to revive it here on RK.

Here they are:

http://webbforsenate.meetup.com/2/ (NOVA Group)

http://webbforsenate.meetup.com/1/ (Richmond Group)

http://webbforsenate.meetup.com/3/ (Fredericksburg Group)

Let me know if your interested wherever you are in Virginia, and we can go from there. It would also be a good opportunity to meet local fellow supporters and plan for the months amd possible future events to come.

I'd attend-- what will we do there? (RayH - 7/25/2006 10:02:01 PM)

TBA: agenda (drmontoya - 7/25/2006 11:26:55 PM)
We don't have a clear agenda, but we could plan on events. Spread ideas around, get aquainted... get ready to rock and roll when given "the word"

Webb MeetUps (Debby - 7/26/2006 8:10:39 AM)
If they are utilized as an introduction to the candidate and a means to provide information about him and how to get involved as an active volunteer, then they are great!  I organized and ran MeetUps for 17 months in 03-04 for Clark, then Kerry.

I haven't attended one in Richmond, but understand from others that they were more of a beer drinking social event rather than the above, and were/are poorly attended.  They won't be effective or useful if nothing more than an opportunity for current volunteers to get together for a brew.  Nothing against beer or socializing, but keep in mind, newcomers aren't coming for this and it doesn't advance the candidate's cause.

Right. (drmontoya - 7/26/2006 9:33:54 AM)
I have been to a meetup even recently and was just about socializing, and in my opinion there's too much work to be done to waste time.

Just sign up for anyone intersted. If we have more than 10 if not 20 on Aug 7th??!? I think the next meetup, I think we can make some progress on the grassroots level.
