BushSpeak: "Taking of innocent human life" is not "murder"

I love this.  According to the White House last week, destroying embryos was "murder," whether for research purposes or whatever else.  In his veto of the embryonic stem cell research bill, President Bush said that such research was equivalent to "the taking of innocent human life." Today, after worries that this position was alienating moderate Republicans, the White House backed off, with press secretary Tony Snow saying that he had "overstated the president's position."  Uh huh.

In other words, "taking of innocent human life" is no longer "murder," according to the Bush White House.  Got that?  Very clear, this BushSpeak, eh? And don't forget, George Allen says it's "fine" to destroy embryos as long as the private sector or an individual state does it, not the federal government.

To sum up, Bush and Allen were against murdering embryos before they were for it. Heh.

Orwell.. (drmontoya - 7/24/2006 11:09:59 PM)
It really does appear at times that we really do live in Orwell's 1984.

Just for the record, and I am have been recently been aware.. that other countries laugh at us.

That pisses me off.

We see '1984' as a warning... (Loudoun County Dem - 7/25/2006 9:15:25 AM)
bush/cheney/rove etc. see it as a manifesto...

Orwell and embryos (Rebecca - 7/25/2006 11:34:15 AM)
Yes we live in 1984 and we also are living dangerously close to a fascist takeover.

A solution to the Mid-East crises. Send a truck full of frozen embryos to Southern Lebanon.

So like Bush/Allen/GOP currently...... (bladerunner - 7/25/2006 5:44:21 AM)
Let's face it Bush/Allen/GOP want to have their cake and eat it too. Bush/Allen made their extremers happy by signing and agreeing to Veto stem cell, now they get Tony Snow to cushion the blow for the moderates. Hopefully Americans/Virginians can see threw their crap. If I were a moderate Republican I'd take their attempt to soften the blow and tell them where they could put it--where the sun don't shine.

At a candidate forum last Saturday, Drake reiterated Karl Rove's exact BS that adult stem cells “have far more promise" than from embryonic stem cells.
