Feder Kicks Off with "Declaration of Energy Independence"

Yesterday, Judy Feder kicked off her bid to unseat Frank Wolf "in sheep's clothing" for the 10th Congressional District seat.  According to the Washington Post report:

...[Feder] launched her campaign against U.S. Rep. Frank R. Wolf (R-Va.) yesterday by painting him as an ally of oil interests who she said bears blame for the nation's dependence on oil, high gasoline prices and war in the Middle East.

[...]

With cars streaming by on Centreville Road, Feder delivered a "Declaration of Energy Independence," promising more research dollars for alternative energy sources, incentives to encourage drivers to buy energy-efficient vehicles and fewer tax breaks for oil companies.

We certainly can't expect any of this with Republicans in charge of Congress.  For instance, Wolf voted "no" on raising CAFE (corporate average fuel economy) standards on U.S. cars and "light trucks."  Wolf also voted "no" on providing incentives for alternative fuels.  Sad to say, but Frank Wolf is part of the problem. Judy Feder is part of the solution.  Go Judy!

Oops, typo (Silver Fox - 7/12/2006 8:27:54 AM)
Lowell, Judy's a candidate in the 10th, not the 11th.  We already have a fine candidate in the 11th, Andy Hurst.  Let's spread the wealth around.

OK, I get the DUH award for the day! (Lowell - 7/12/2006 11:35:54 AM)

Good for Judy! (summercat - 7/12/2006 8:57:14 AM)
This is a huge area of Republican vulnerability!

Davis and Wolf are part of the Culture of Corruption (Andrea Chamblee - 7/12/2006 11:29:40 PM)
Davis and Wolf tell their voters they are moderates but they are corrupted by millions from the oil companies that grease their palms, they let Big Oil meet with Dick Cheney to write their own tax break and then both of them voted to pass it in the form of the Energy Policy Act .  Then Davis, as chair of the Reform Committee, refuses Democrats' request to investigate the meetings (see item 7 of 15).  Finally, both Davis and Wolf vote to kill the reform measure that would clean up the "Pay to Play" political system that the oil companies used to accomplish this thievery.

Shouldn't this tax break have been used instead to pay for protective gear for the troops who are losing limbs in Iraq?
