General Clark Defends Governor Dean

Yesterday, in New Hampshire (gee, wonder what he's doing THERE?), General Wesley Clark responded to criticism of DNC Chairman Howard Dean, by Dick "F*** You" Cheney.  Yesterday, of course, Cheney called Dean "over the top."  Today, Clark fired back, saying  ?I?m proud of Howard Dean. I?m proud of our party  I?m proud of the fact that we are Americans speaking out.?  You tell 'em, General!

The great thing is, Wes Clark is practicing what he preaches.  Back in April 2005, in a speech in Los Angeles during which he all but declared his candidacy for President in 2008, Clark had this to say about the Democratic Party:

No Democrat can win in 2008 unless the American people believe we are a party of strong convictions....The American people will trust the Democratic Party to defend America when they believe that Democrats will defend other Democrats!

So, that's exactly what the Democrat's own "Four Star" is doing:  defending other Democrats against absurd attacks from a guy who a) avoided serving his country in Vietnam, and b) lied to the American people in order to drag them into a poorly planned, poorly conceived, poorly executed war in Iraq.

What Wes Clark did today in New Hampshire is EXACTLY what we need to be doing as Democrats -- giving it right back to these people, not taking their you-know-what for one minute.  Once we start acting that way on a consistent basis, then we will be ready to start taking back our Party, our State and our Country from the right-wing, know-nothing theocrats and neo-cons.

Here in Virginia, it all starts tomorrow.  That's why I say, "Vote Strong" for the best possible Democratic candidate you can find.  And, if you just so happen to come across a passionate progressive who graduated from a top U.S. military academy, all the better.  No, Wes Clark's not running here in Virginia.  Luckily, though, we've got the next best thing in the 45th District -- David Englin!
