At the very least, U.S. Rep. Thelma Drake, who represents Fort Monroe, along with Sens. John Warner and George Allen, who have also maintained radio silence on this issue, should request a feasibility study on turning Monroe into a national park. There's no reason that couldn't happen simultaneously with Hampton's planning process.
