More illegal contributions to Republican Virgil Goode surface

Another former official of MZM Inc. has just been charged with illegally funneling money to Virginia's 5th District Republican Congressman Virgil Goode.  From today's Roanoke Times:

Richard A. Berglund, who headed up the defense contractor's Martinsville office before he moved to Florida earlier this year, is accused of making straw contributions on behalf of MZM's former chief executive officer, Mitchell Wade.

According to the complaint against Berglund, Wade gave Berglund money in March 2005 and asked him to make donations to "Representative A." Berglund allegedly then supplemented $3,000 of Wade's money with $1,000 of his own to make two donations of $2,000 to the campaign -- one in Berglund's name and one in his wife's name.

The document also claims that Berglund gave $2,000 each to two unnamed MZM employees and told them Wade wanted them to donate it to "Representative A's" campaign.

Wade has already pleaded guilty to making illegal campaign contributions to discraced former Congressman Duke Cunningham and to Congressman Goode.  The Goode campaign has also confirmed that Congressman Goode is indeed "Representative A" mentioned above.

The culture of corruption continues.

Please help Democrat Al Weed defeat Goode this year.

Glad to see this in the RT (Al Weed for Congress - 7/4/2006 5:11:27 PM)
I posted about the WaPo article a couple days ago, but it was frustrating to see it utterly ignored by everyone else.

Glad to see someone in the district is paying attention (even though it's been the RT every single time). Good looking out.
