Mark Warner to Keep Jerome Armstrong

According to the New York Post, Mark Warner "has no plans to fire [blogger/consultant Jerome Armstrong], despite new revelations about his past."  According to the Post:

... Warner spokeswoman Ellen Qualls said [Armstrong]'s keeping his $5,000- a-month job: "This is a private matter between Jerome and the SEC relating to activities years ago."

She declined to say if Warner disclosed Armstrong's SEC woes or if Armstrong, 42, meets the ethical standards required for, say, a White House job, saying Warner isn't now a candidate.

[...]

Some Dems suspect Warner fears ditching Armstrong would spark rage from his ex-business partner, Markos Moulitsas-Zuniga of the Daily Kos Web site, who's had nice things to say about Warner so far.

Interesting, but who are these anonymous "some Dems?"  I don't know, but whoever they are, they're "startled that Warner would risk his own image to keep Armstrong."  Risk his own image to keep someone accused of being an astrologist and possibly having some sort of past settlement with the SEC?  Well, if that's serious, I'd like to see what Dick Wadhams et al. have in THEIR background!

Good to know (pitin - 6/29/2006 5:42:04 PM)
That Warner is a man of integrity, and isn't going to let the ring wing nut jobs decide who should or shouldn't be on his staff.

You and I may always disagree about the details regarding that McDonnell issue, but I've got to give credit where it's due...  nice come back.

But "foam at the mouth"?  That's so harsh ;-)

Well said Lowell. (thaddaeus toad - 6/29/2006 6:01:58 PM)
We need to get in the habit of proudly celebrating our beleifs and diversity.  I don't buy into Astrology, but who the hell cares.  Warner isn't hiring an astrologist, he's hired a brilliant strategist.  If the skeletons(and I don't accept that Jerome necessarily has any) in our closets were set side by side with those of our oppponents, is there any doubt that theirs would be far more rotten than ever imagined.  This is their modus operandi.  What they are guilty of they project onto their assailants.  That is exactly what children do.  There is a reason children and Republicans employ the same M.O.  They are one and the same.
Ever notice that children and Republicans are never in the same place at the same time???  Hm...
When Republicans lie, someone dies.
When Democrats lie, someone gets laid.

I don't know (KCinDC - 6/30/2006 12:01:59 AM)
If we're going to embrace astrologers as members of the reality-based community, it's going to be pretty hard to complain about a Republican war on science anymore.

The difference. (Kathy Gerber - 6/30/2006 4:01:30 AM)
I haven't read the stories on Armstrong, but if he's entertaining the idea of advancing an astrolocracy or rewriting science textbooks, then you are correct.
