Updated rankings are up here

The Webb v. Allen race moves up one spot, to 13th.

It could potentially move higher.

We+óGé¼Gäóre a few more weeks away from truly buying into this race as competitive. It has the potential to become the cycle+óGé¼Gäós most nationalized race, and it has the potential to be the country+óGé¼Gäós most competitive race. The key word here is potential.  Webb gives the Democrats a lot of hope, but until the money begins flowing, this race won't crack the top 10.

In other news, SurveyUSA has released results of a new poll here.

The results were:

  • 56%  Allen (R)

  •
  • 37%  Webb (D)

  •
  • 2% Parker (IG)

  •
  • 3%  Other

  •
  • 3%  Undecided

  • Once Webb gets to meet more people in the coming months, though, the numbers will quickly narrow.

Webb's number will move higher very soon (JennyE - 6/28/2006 9:40:39 PM)
I remember when Paul Hackett dropped out of the senate primary in Ohio and some Hackett supporters were upset with Sherrod Brown over the divisive nature of the primary. Brown was down by 15 points or more after Hackett dropped out. I think we have a similar situation here where the Webb-Miller primary was quite bitter. Sherrod Brown is now leading DeWine(R) on average in most polls. Democrats will rally around Webb. We've to work extra hard to do just that. And the money factor with Allen heavily advertising on radio and TV this early in the race --- I'm sure this is helping Allen's poll numbers too.

Allen's lead will evaporate as soon as Webb starts his own media blitz.

FYI, DeWine is leading in almost every poll. (va.walter - 6/29/2006 8:48:08 AM)
Brown, for the first time, nudged ahead in the last polling cycle but all those since have shown DeWine back on top in a state trending heavily left (see the Governor's race).

    not true (JennyE - 6/29/2006 11:02:36 AM)
The only poll that has DeWine leading is the Rasmussen poll. And even with the Rasmussen poll, Brown was leading DeWine in until this month.
