Allen Website's Own Poll: 71% Oppose Flag Burning Amendment!

This is truly hilarious.  On George Allen's own website, he's got a poll that, as of 6:45 PM on Wednesday, had 71.4% of people opposing a constitutional amendment to prohibit flag burning.  And that overwhelming repudiation of George Felix Allen's position on the issue comes in spite of the fact that the poll's wording is wildly biased in FAVOR of Allen's position on the issue:

Do you believe that the burning or desecration of the American flag degrades those who fought and died for America, and, therefore, that the flag should be protected by the U.S. Constitution?

Amazing, huh?  So what's Allen going to say now?  That his own poll was flawed?  That people don't understand the issue?  That most people who go to his website are Communists...er liberals...er...what?

By the way, when Allen talks about "those who fought and died for America," who's he referring to?  George Felix never served in the military, of course, despite the fact that he could have served, so it's obviously not himself.  Hmmmm...is there another Senate candidate this year who fought an nearly gave his life for his country?  Gee, who could THAT be?

letting them set a cookie for the session to vote.  I quickly deleted it.

Webb/Allen race on Hardball MSNBC right now!  GO, get thee to a TV!

Yes I can... (cvitter - 6/28/2006 7:32:47 PM)
I saw that the other day and urged people to go vote no on my blog... maybe someone is actually reading my blog!?!?!? I swear that I only voted once.

Allen's in Trouble (Nick Stump - 6/28/2006 7:53:56 PM)
Geez,  George Allen is dying out there.  As this Allen/Webb fight over Flag Burning has captured national attention, even some of the conservative blogs are talking nice about Jim, at least some of the comments.  Nothing like seeing a Virgina Republican say he's thinking about voting for Webb to perk up my day.  Though I've always been a yellow-dog Democrat, I've had admiration for some conservative thinking--especially when they talk about a less intrusive Government.  These days with the Republician Congress hell-bent on nation building, eavesdropping and the like--better, smarter Government Democrats like Jim Webb will make sense to a lot of voters, regardless of party.

Virgina is setting an example for the rest of the country.

hahahaha Mr. Felix! (Jambon - 6/28/2006 8:19:50 PM)

He's dead, Jim.

at 9:32 better than 73% opposing (teacherken - 6/28/2006 9:19:46 PM)
is this Terri Schiavo redux?

At 10:09 PM it's 74.2% opposing (Lowell - 6/28/2006 9:55:43 PM)
Wow.

NLS Poll (DukieDem - 6/28/2006 10:01:29 PM)
If you go to NLS, you'll see that Webb has quite a margin to make up. I don't think its as big as the one posted, but in recognition of the gap he has, I'm making a 20.06 contribution tonight. Give all you can before the June 30th deadline!

74.3 NO (Newport News Dem - 6/28/2006 10:19:48 PM)
I just sent this out to my 400 name email list......

Daily Press (Newport News Dem - 6/28/2006 10:25:14 PM)
I just emailed this to the political Reporters at the Daily Press....See if we can get a little bad news day for Felix.

The responses here show the problem (va.walter - 6/29/2006 7:50:37 AM)
with internet polls.  It's obvious when a poll has been skewed one way or the other.  You actually think the MSM would find this newsworthy?  What is more frustrating is that the MSM media will run with the SurveyUSA poll showing Webb losing badly.

I agree (Newport News Dem - 6/29/2006 8:34:22 AM)
these are far from scientific polls.

The story is the location of this unscientific poll!

Of course it's silly (KCinDC - 6/29/2006 10:05:49 AM)
That's why it was foolish of Allen to put a web poll on his site in the first place.

Poll taken down. (Susan Mariner - 6/29/2006 9:04:06 AM)
Last night at 1:30 or so, it was over 75% against.  Very funny.  Not surprisingly, the poll has been removed this morning.
