Who do I talk to in order to suggest...

an event where there should be a campaign presence?

The reason I bring this up now is that in the 2004 campaign, I helped to hand out literature for KE at a particular outdoor event with a *huge* crowd, but for us it was a very haphazard last-minute kind of deal.  The Republicans were far better organized.  We didn't have a booth, they did.  We ran out of literature and stickers, and they didn't.  They had balloons, and we didn't.  You get the idea.
That same event is on again this year, and I would hate for us to miss this opportunity this time around because nobody in the campaign thought of it.

This wouldn't have to be something where the candidate was present - a booth staffed with volunteers would work too.

I don't know if I should be more specific about the nature of the event in a public forum.  My email is in my profile.  Then again, if folks think I am being an paranoid idiot, I can just post the information here, but it is always better to err on the side of caution.

Other folks may have ideas for other events where a campaign presence of some sort would be a good idea.

why not post the info? (Rob - 6/17/2006 7:29:02 AM)
if the Republicans are as organized as you say they are, they already know about it.  right now, it's just us progressives that don't know about the event - so spread the word and we'll get organized!

Umm. Very good point... (ericy - 6/17/2006 10:10:48 AM)

The event I have in mind is the Occoquan Craft Fair.
Dates are September 23th & 24th 2006 in Occoquan VA.  10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m on both days.  I found a link for info: OccoquanShows@aol.com or call (703) 491-2168.

This is in Tom Davis's district, so the Hurst campaign might be interested as well..

There are about 150 booths with various artisans and so forth, plus there is food and music.  I have been poking around to try and get a handle on the sizes of the crowds, but I don't find any numbers.  It is enough that they run shuttle busses from some local park-and-ride areas to get people in and out.  In 2004, we had nice weather both days, and the streets in Occoquan were pretty much packed with people all day long.

Events where a Webb presence would be helpful (Susan Mariner - 6/17/2006 11:06:51 AM)
Please everyone...

Put information about events into the "invite Jim" section of www.webbforsenate.com which is found in the "events" section.  The more the campaign knows about the details of these events, the better.  Once the events get into a single system that way, it's easier to organize to make sure Webb has a presence of some sort.

Thanks!
