Webb closes to within 10 points in new Rasmussen poll

The DSCC blog is reporting the first poll since last Tuesday's primary is showing Webb down ten points to George Allen.

VIRGINIA: Jim Webb, coming off Tuesday+óGé¼Gäós primary win, narrowed George Allen+óGé¼Gäós lead to just 10 points, 51% - 41% in a new Rasmussen poll. Allen led Webb by 20-points, (50-30) in late April.

It's a premium poll so there are no direct links or internal numbers publicly available yet.

That's tier one status to me.

[UPDATE by Lowell:  I would add that anything under 50% for an incumbent is really bad news.  So, 51% is very shaky for George Allen, especially when everyone in Virginia knows him and a lot of people don't know Jim Webb.  If I were the Allen campaign, I'd be very worried right now.]

Thriller!!!!!!!!!! (Nichole - 6/16/2006 7:07:27 PM)
This is exciting... now let's cut it down to 5% and then even.... and then we get ahead and never let go of the lead :)

On par (Corey - 6/16/2006 7:08:41 PM)
That's on par with the TN-Sen. race showing Ford down 8-9 points to his yet to be determined opponent or the NV-Sen. race showing Carter down in the teens or even >20+.
