Kaine endorses Webb for Senate

Virginia Democrats rally around their new nominee to take on Republican Senator George Allen.

Jim Webb won the Democratic primary Tuesday night beating back a spirited campaign by Harris Miller, a Northern Virginia lobbyist and longtime Democratic activist.

Wednesday, Democratic Governor Tim Kaine praised Webb, saying he's proud to have Webb on the ballot for his party. But, Kaine acknowledged Webb's uphill battle in the race.

"Beating any incumbent in a Senate race is like sending a teenager out with a slingshot to defeat a big giant," Kaine said. "But, hey, it's happened and we're hungry and we're a party that is very unified."

I sincerely hope that Mark Warner and Tim Kaine will stump with Jim Webb and our Congressional candidates across Virginia.

I wonder if John Warner might consider an endorsement.

And Doug Wilder? (JennyE - 6/15/2006 8:13:31 PM)
A Wilder endorsement automatically gives Webb a 2 point boost. At least that's what my husband says.

While Webb's Life Story is His Own (David M - 6/17/2006 1:19:39 PM)
best promotional material, it never helps to add more positive support to the pile. These endorsements are going to pour in over the next few weeks and all summer long as Democrats realize the strengths that Jim will bring not only to the Senate, but also the Democratic party as a whole.
