Over at Virginia Beach Dems a letter-to-the editor was posted from the Pilot newspaper. It read:

"GOP vs. GOP"
"I am very disappointed by Tuesday's Democratic primary election to select an opponent for Sen. George Allen. What a sham! Now we have two Republicans in the November senatorial race.

"Oh, well, we the people deserve what we get - all 3.4 percent of us who took the time to vote.

"John L. Horton
"Norfolk"

...............NON-SENSE!!.............

  Webb is a Democrat.
The core GOP value going back as far as it goes is this- "feed the upper classes/big businesses." The Democrats have always been a "help the working/common man" party at their core. Social issues and other things shift and change throughout the years, but these two core values stay put with their parties.

Webb is firmly in the Democratic mold. He is a soldier for the common man (as he says "the people with no voice"), but he is pragmatic. On social issues, Webb falls largely in the modern Democratic camp. The main place where he has been in line with the modern GOP is in the realm of military, defense, and national security. Now that the GOP has abandonned their traditional stances on those. Webb finds himself squarely in the Democratic fold. He is no rapid "liberal" as the GOP would define it, but he is a Democrat. There is no question.

Don't believe me? Ask him. Or ask those who endorsed him.
