Where are the polls?

I haven't seen any polls matching up Miller and Webb.  I'm sure had there been, someone here would've noticed and posted about it.  And this is despite the national ramifications of this race - in light of Webb's high profile national endorsements like John Kerry and Wes Clark and the potential storyline facing Sen. Allen.

So, what gives?  Why the heck didn't any media or polling outfit run even one Miller v. Webb poll in such a hotly contested race?

Good question, but maybe the answer... (Lowell - 6/12/2006 9:23:08 AM)
...is that, until recently, the percentage of people who have no idea about either candidate was simply too high to get a meaningful statistical sample.  Let's face it, with only 4% or 5% voting, it's tough to do an accurate poll.

I WOULD point out that Virginia Centrist (Lowell - 6/12/2006 9:25:08 AM)
said he talked to someone from the DSCC who thought Webb would win by 30 points or so.  I don't believe the margin will be that big, although I've also heard that other high-ranking elected officials are also saying Webb's going to win, based on everything they're seeing and hearing.  The bottom line is this:  we need to work like we're 5 points behind.  We need to get ourselves, and EVERYONE WE KNOW - 5, 10, 20 other people - out to the polls tomorrow.  If we do, we'll win a huge victory for Jim Webb, and for our Democracy.

Too close to call? (Andrea Chamblee - 6/12/2006 9:34:32 AM)
In a turnout projected to be less than 5 percent of Virginia's 4.5 million registered voters, it is impossible to accurately project the outcome, advisers to both candidates say, particularly with two campaigns as polarized as Webb and Miller.
