Blame the Press, not Ann Coulter

To all those who are trying to slam Ann Coulter for her recent comments about war widows, it's not going to work.  Ann Coulter has already won.  For one thing, the GOP has remained silent about her comments.  For another thing, she has never taken any backlash for the horrible things she says. But the main reason slamming her won+óGé¼Gäót work is because like any crazy woman who spews vitriol and crap into our ears, all she really wanted was attention.

Did it ever occur to anybody that the reason she went after war widows was to sell her book?  While the +óGé¼+ôstupid+óGé¼-¥ press tried to condemn Ms. Coulter for her comments, they instead did her a big favor.  They brought her on show after show to allow her to sell her book and to plead her case.  It seems like Ann Coulter got the best of the press on this one, didn't she? People forget that despite her disgusting comments, she is actually an excellent businesswoman.  She has managed to get herself into the National conversation, despite being a complete whackjob.  She has managed to sell hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of books, even though none of them are any good.  Have you ever actually read one of those things?  It+óGé¼Gäós full of completely biased garbage with no substance.  However, anyone who sells books that read like an unexpected political conversation you got into with a woman you were trying to hook up with, IS FREAKING TALENTED!

Ann Coulter has somehow managed to turn her marginal good looks and sharp tongue into book-store gold.  She has duped the press into responding directly to her comments instead of questioning the actual facts in her book.  Furthermore, she has avoided ever being asked about her opinions on issues Americans really care about.  For instance, has anyone ever asked her about energy policy?  How about health care, nuclear proliferation, or pollution?  Has anyone ever dug up dirt on her and confronted her on-air?  For anyone who has read Al Franken+óGé¼Gäós book, +óGé¼+ôLies, and the Lying Liars who tell them+óGé¼-¥ we know that Coulter bases her arguments on unsound, ludicrous assumptions.  The problem is the press is too busy brushing their hair to actually do any research.

The point of this article is to point out that people like Ann Coulter are not the problem.  The problem is those who give her attention, and those who give her a voice in the public discourse.  What about those losing their health care, their pensions, or their lives in Iraq?  Where is their opportunity to speak?  I blame the press for helping her to sell books and I refuse to bash Ann Coulter for being Ann Coulter.  After all, if you see a dog licking itself, do you criticize the dog for being a dog?  Ann Coulter is just being the piece of human excrement that she was brought up to be.  If you have ever been to New Canaan (the WASP capital of America) maybe you+óGé¼Gäóll understand where she is coming from.  Hopefully, you will also agree that yuppie suburban woman with bad tempers shouldn+óGé¼Gäót be barking on television, driving us crazy with their idiotic opinions.  That is what their husbands are for.

George Allen's Treasurer Backs Coulter (Josh - 6/10/2006 2:20:43 PM)
Does George Allen hate the 9/11 widows?  Are they partying on their dead husbands graves as Coulter implies?

It's Not Just Her Latest Quote (PM - 6/10/2006 3:25:35 PM)
I discovered that one of the big GOP conservative organizations featured her as a speaker.  I am not sure people know how repugnant her ideas really are.  Here are some quotes:

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building."

"The ethic of conservation is the explicit abnegation of man's dominion over the Earth. The lower species are here for our use. God said so: Go forth, be fruitful, multiply, and rape the planet -- it's yours. That's our job: drilling, mining and stripping. Sweaters are the anti-Biblical view. Big gas-guzzling cars with phones and CD players and wet bars -- that's the Biblical view."

"I have to say I'm all for public flogging."

"Don't pray. Learn to use guns."

"Then there are the 22 million Americans on food stamps. And of course there are the 39 million greedy geezers collecting Social Security. The greatest generation rewarded itself with a pretty big meal."

"I think [women] should be armed but should not vote ... women have no capacity to understand how money is earned. They have a lot of ideas on how to spend it ... it's always more money on education, more money on child care, more money on day care."

To a paralyzed Vietnam vet: "People like you caused us to lose that war."---MSNBC, cited in http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2001/0111.coulterwisdom.html

"The swing voters---I like to refer to them as the idiot voters because they don't have set philosophical principles. You're either a liberal or you're a conservative if you have an IQ above a toaster. "---Beyond the News, Fox News Channel, 6/4/00

"Let's say I go out every night, I meet a guy and have sex with him. Good for me. I'm not married."---Rivera Live 6/7/00

"I believe everything I say."  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Coulter

Actually, Not Good For Her (AnonymousIsAWoman - 6/10/2006 9:54:08 PM)
If she goes out every night, meets a guy and has sex with him, she's still fornicating - it's not Biblical.

I believe the penalty was stoning.

Coulter (Too Conservative - 6/10/2006 10:46:12 PM)
Her comments were out of line, but warrented.

All She Wanted (Mimi Schaeffer - 6/10/2006 11:40:37 PM)
Yep, all she wanted was attention and $$$$.
