Thank God for the US Senate

Today I say, "thank God for the the US Senate." Yesterday, the Senate soundly rejected the craven, disgraceful attempt to amend our great Constitution and enshrine therein discrimination against an entire group of people.  Gay people, that is, with the so-called "marriage amendment."  Of course, George Allen voted for the amendment, but luckily we'll be rid of him come January 2007, replaced by a Senator - Jim Webb - who believes in equal rights for ALL Americans.

This morning, the Senate came through again, rejecting an effort to repeal the estate tax. In other words, the Senate decided not to grant HUGE tax break to a tiny percentage of ultra-rich Americans at the expense of everyone else.  Great job.  Of course, George Allen's on the wrong side of this issue as well.  Big surprise.  Again, that's why we need to replace him with a Senator - Jim Webb - who will fight for 99.9% of us, not the other 0.1% richest and most powerful Americans.

Irony... I love it... (Loudoun County Dem - 6/8/2006 2:53:21 PM)
Its not 'Kissinger has a Nobel Peace Prize' ironic but it is ironic...

CEASE FIRE!!! (Loudoun County Dem - 6/8/2006 3:48:00 PM)
Eric was joking... relax... sheath your swords...

how is this funny? (JennyE - 6/8/2006 3:58:45 PM)
How do you repeat lies and outright distortions and expect it to be funny?

There are many visitors reading the blogs and researching the candidates now, so its best not to to post another link to a malicious piece.

I know Eric didn't mean to rile up people here, but his post was in poor taste.

I didn't say it was funny... (Loudoun County Dem - 6/8/2006 4:03:02 PM)
I said it was a joke, he was being ironic. That reminds me of my favorite quote from the movie Roxanne:

"We don't do irony here anymore. There was only one practitioner, and he finally gave it up when I got tired of being STARED at."

Eric, You should have... (Loudoun County Dem - 6/8/2006 4:12:09 PM)
used a different link... like to SpongeBob SquarePants or something...

Live and learn...

You're right (phriendlyjaime - 6/8/2006 4:18:43 PM)
and so is LCD, and so is Eric for joking, and so am I for rocking, and so is Lowell for being Lowell...

I think we are all a bit punchy.  I am dying for this primary to be over already.

I just can't believe it has gone this far.  This could have been so easy.  I don't trust the Republicans to not come out and vote for Miller.  I don't trust Miller.  I don't trust the voting machines.  I don't trust Virginians to get off their asses and do more research than what the nasty mailer/ad tells them.

I am just pooped, and frankly, I am quite sick to my stomach.

Point taken (Eric - 6/8/2006 5:51:00 PM)
I, for the record, do not like the article at all (except the part about the real Sabato) and my comment was simply mocking today's trolls.  The absurdity of their posts all day long, with the constant "Did so and so see this", made me laugh.  You may or may not find humor in my mockery - everyone has a different funny bone - but that's all it was.

To LCD's point, I probably should have changed the link - although that may have caused even more confusion.  Who knows.

Oh well, back to more important things.

And Lowell - sorry for hijacking your post.

who are you and why do you do this, be productive! (kevinceckowski - 6/8/2006 2:57:12 PM)
be productive or leave. kc

Eric, (thegools - 6/8/2006 3:29:22 PM)
You are making me yawn.  Miller will lose on Tuesday, or in November.

Eric, we know you are a front-pager (JennyE - 6/8/2006 3:29:37 PM)
But are you trying to be funny here with with this comment? Sorry, but your comment has nothing to do with Lowell's post, and if you meant it to be something ironic, it fell flat.

Call me tense, but I think we don't need distractions like this especially from a front-pager. It's not helpful. Dealing with the real trolls is more than I can handle.

I don't get it either. (Lowell - 6/8/2006 3:42:30 PM)
The article you reference is utterly disgraceful. I am Jewish as are several other key "draft" people, and there is ZERO truth to any charges coming out of the Miller campaign that Jim Webb is anti-Semitic.  That is completely outrageous, and I will say right here, right now: I will NEVER support Harris Miller for ANY political office.  In fact, I will strongly oppose him.  I am deeply offended that his people would push such a story to the media. Disgusting.

BAHAHAHAHA! (phriendlyjaime - 6/8/2006 3:51:34 PM)
Good one, eric!  That guy has been driving me nuts all day with his incessant article dropping...

Troll/Voting (DukieDem - 6/8/2006 2:53:04 PM)
Someone please ban this troll. I'm fine with debate and discussion, but posting the same link in every board is annoying and unproductive.

On another note can we get a link to see how the full Senate voted?

No... VADem4Ever was the troll posting the link over and over... (Loudoun County Dem - 6/8/2006 2:56:38 PM)
and over and over...

Eric, I guess it was too dry. You needed a :)

My bad (Eric - 6/8/2006 3:01:07 PM)
Guess everyone is a little wound up about our troll friend(s).

Big grin.  Wink.

Miller trolls (Info_Tech_Guy - 6/8/2006 4:21:43 PM)
are best when marinated in Jack Daniel's and barbecued over a low fire...

Hee Hee Hee (LT - 6/8/2006 4:35:12 PM)
IFG, your post made my day! They should make you the official Troll Roaster for RK. Too bad online trolls can't be beaten like Tolkein's trolls--just expose 'em to sunlight and watch them turn to stone.

glad you enjoyed... (Info_Tech_Guy - 6/8/2006 5:27:26 PM)
I have to express some humor in their frantic efforts to savage Jim Webb... They can't talk facts and they grab every opportunity to spread lies. Part of these trolls has turned to stone: their brains.

Aw... Mookie is sensitive to comments about Miller trolls (Info_Tech_Guy - 6/8/2006 8:16:44 PM)
'fraid of being bbq'd or just giving evidence that you're brain is kinda rock-like? hehe.

Oops (DukieDem - 6/8/2006 2:54:45 PM)
Sorry I didn't check the poster. My bad.
