Frank Wolf is up to his old tricks again. Running a tough election? Afraid to get voted out? Might lose that House gravy train? Lets start a commission. Why does a commission work for Wolf? It gives the appearence of doing something while it takes 2 years to come to the same conclusions that Judy Feder came to 20 years ago. The voters won't be fooled.

Feder:  "We Don+óGé¼Gäót Need a Commission. We Need Real Leadership.+óGé¼-¥

Sterling, VA -- Judy Feder, Democratic candidate for Congress in Virginia's 10th District, today criticized Congressman Frank Wolf+óGé¼Gäós announcement of a proposed commission on the budget crisis.

+óGé¼+ôIt seems that Frank Wolf has suddenly recognized that he+óGé¼Gäós squandered the resources needed to meet our obligations to our aging population by running up the national debt,+óGé¼-¥ said Feder of Wolf+óGé¼Gäós speech announcing his proposed commission.

In his speech, Wolf quoted President Abraham Lincoln: +óGé¼+ôYou cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.+óGé¼-¥

Unfortunately, Feder said, it is Wolf himself who is trying to escape responsibility for creating this dire fiscal situation by hiding his record in Congress.

+óGé¼+ôFrank Wolf has supported the Bush agenda 90% of the time, passing budgets with the largest deficits in history, raiding Social Security, and delivering huge giveaways to oil and drug companies. Mr. Wolf and President Bush have run up $8 trillion federal debt. Now it seems Mr. Wolf wants to force seniors to pay for his mistakes by cutting Social Security and Medicare benefits.+óGé¼-¥

Feder, Dean of Georgetown University+óGé¼Gäós Public Policy Institute and one of the nation+óGé¼Gäós leading policy experts on healthcare, compared Wolf+óGé¼Gäós warnings of a fiscal crisis to another avoidable disaster.

+óGé¼+ôFrank Wolf+óGé¼Gäós admonishing the American people to be more fiscally responsible is like the captain of the Titanic telling drowning passengers that they should have taken swimming lessons.

+óGé¼+ôAfter 26 years in Congress, Frank Wolf doesn+óGé¼Gäót seem to understand that he can+óGé¼Gäót escape the problems he+óGé¼Gäós helped create with commissions. What we need is real leadership and a fresh approach that Frank Wolf cannot provide.+óGé¼-¥

After 26 years in Congress... (Loudoun County Dem - 6/8/2006 11:15:37 AM)
...during which the federal deficit grew from less than $1 Trillion to over $9 Trillion (with a newly raised $10 Trillion debt ceiling, that's $33,000 worth of debt for each of us - before interest) and the debt as a percentage of the GDP grew from 33% to 67%... Wolf suddenly decides we need a commission on the budget crisis???

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Allow me to also quote Abraham Lincoln:

You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.
