10 More Virginia Endorsements for Webb; So Much for Miller Having More

According to the Webb campaign, the endorsements are pouring in.

Ten Local Democratic Committee Chairs Endorse Jim Webb for Senate

Virginia Local Support Strong Behind Webb

Today, ten local Democratic Committee Chairs from across Virginia came together to endorse Jim Webb for United States Senate. With these endorsements, Webb has now received support from over sixty Virginia Democratic leaders and eleven United States Senators.
Democratic Committee Chairs Endorsing Jim Webb:

  * Chairwoman Sara Braaten, Bedford City Democratic Committee
  * Chairman Roy Dye, Greene County Democratic Committee
  * Chairman Mark Brooks, Cumberland County Democratic Committee
  * Chairman Joe Stanley, Franklin County Democratic Committee
  * Chairman Danny Edwards, Dickenson County Democratic Committee
  * Chairman Thomas Long, Augusta County Democratic Committee
  * Chairman Corey Hernandez, Isle of Wight County Democratic Committee
  * Chairman Shawn Becker, Grayson County Democratic Committee
  * Chairman Thomas Brewster, Tazewell County Democratic Committee
  * Chairwoman Kimberly Chiapetto, Floyd County Democratic Committee

+óGé¼+ôJim Webb is an honest, intelligent Democrat who is the perfect candidate for Virginia,+óGé¼-¥ said Mark Brooks, the Cumberland County Democratic Chair. +óGé¼+ôWe can+óGé¼Gäót afford to elect a do-nothing politician to the Senate. Here in Virginia, we need someone who will actually work for the interests of the Commonwealth+óGé¼Gäós citizens, not just the lobbyist friends of George Allen.+óGé¼-¥

+óGé¼+ôJim Webb is an outstanding leader, a man of thoughtful independence and moral courage,+óGé¼-¥ said Roy Dye, the Greene County Democratic Chair. +óGé¼+ôHe embodies the finest traditions of a true Virginia soldier and public servant. As a Senator, he will be a champion for all of us.+óGé¼-¥

+óGé¼+ôThese community leaders will play a critical role in motivating the Democratic base to defeat George Allen,+óGé¼-¥ said Webb. +óGé¼+ôI+óGé¼Gäóm honored and thankful for the support of these ten Democratic Committee Chairs.+óGé¼-¥

+óGé¼+ôThe endorsements of these ten Democratic Committee Chairs are a sign that the Virginia Democratic Base is rallying behind Jim Webb,+óGé¼-¥ said Kristian Denny Todd, spokeswoman for Webb.

According to the Webb press release, over 60 Virginia politicos are endorsing his candidacy.  On Miller's website, I count only 45 Virginians endorsing Harris.  In addition, I would point out that I personally know of several Miller "endorsers" who did so very early on, before Webb was in the race, and are now de facto backing Webb.  In at least one case, this has been a HUGE help to Webb, as it's one of the most prominent people on Miller's list of "endorsers." In contrast, I am not aware of anyone who has backed off from their endorsement of Jim Webb.  Interesting, eh?

Oh, by the way, can the "mainstream media" FINALLY retire their silly story line about how Webb has received the national endorsements while Miller has supposedly received the Virginia ones?  That was never true, as Webb has people like Leslie Byrne, Chap Petersen, Phil Puckett, Owen Pickett, and many more.  But now, it's wildly wrong, with Webb actually having more Virginia endorsements than Harris Miller AND a near-monopoly on national-level Democratic endorsements. End of story.

This IS Just SUPER!!!! (kevinceckowski - 6/7/2006 11:46:15 AM)
Yes, I read Alice Marshall the other day and could not believe it when she said that Senator Levine's endorsement did not amount to a hill of beans for he does not vote in Virginia, and then we had to reminder her of the fact there are so many Virginia endorsements you could not count them all on fingers and toes.  Just super news Lowell and the Washington Post is reading RaisingKaine daily, my guess from today's Miller article......just a good guess....yep, yep and yep. kc

P.S. I guess the DAD beakfast went well. (kevinceckowski - 6/7/2006 11:48:20 AM)
DAD speech must have been a homerun.  WAY TO GO JIM!!

RE: endorsements (ruggerjen - 6/7/2006 11:48:37 AM)
this is great, but this morning I received an email blast from Adam Ebbin telling me to vote for Miller (I'm not).  I am just concerned that a lot of people not following this race as closely might vote for Miller b/c they are receiving emails and mailings about him (name recognition).  Is there anything in the works to do the same for Webb?

I heard that (Arturo - 6/7/2006 1:33:59 PM)
there is something in the works.

I am Proud (Mark - 6/7/2006 11:49:00 AM)
to do this and to lead off the narrative (yes, those are really my words above) in order to support Jim Webb, the next Senator from the Commonwealth of Virginia.

I applaud all my fellow Chairs in endorsing Jim, because it is time to get on with the defeat of George Allen in the fall.

This endorsement is not to be construed as my Committee's endorsement, because they all have that decision to make for themselves. However, in my position as a Chair, hopefully adding my voice to the Webb Campaign's efforts will be helpful.

Thanks Lowell.

glad to see you here Mr. Brooks n/t (teacherken - 6/7/2006 11:50:39 AM)

Glad to be here (Mark - 6/7/2006 11:53:25 AM)
Mr Ken. ;)

After the last few years, glad to be ANYWHERE.

Lisa is going to email you soon about the education plan.

Mark Brooks

won't address it until after primary (teacherken - 6/7/2006 1:32:41 PM)
no time  -- I leave my classroom at 2:15 for a flight out of Dulles, and will have no time to even breathe until perhaps Sunday afternoon.  I have an overnight flight back, getting into Dulles at 6:05 Monday, followed by a full day of school, and then the last two days of the primary campaign.  On the 14th hopefully I will be sleeping the sleep of the content victors and get can back to reality on the 15th.

I'll look for it, but understand why if there is no immediate response.

Endorsers Calling is a Super Idea (kevinceckowski - 6/7/2006 12:23:48 PM)
Received a call from Jay Fisette when Sally Baird was running, a reminder to vote the evening before the vote.  It was very effective.

I believe it was ROBO actually, but it was good, fast and effective.

Maybe we can do that with a recording from Jay and the rest of those who have endorsed. kc

Excellent (TurnVirginiaBlue - 6/7/2006 1:27:27 PM)
This "oh whine whine whine, you must be loyal to me and I have wanted this all of my life" mantra from Miller is reminding me of a 2 yr. old demanding more ice cream.

Virginia Dems have to stand up and just say "no" and support someone who truly represents progressive Democratic values, in action and most importantly, who can actually win.

Which Miller Endorsements Rolled? (Greg Bouchillon - 6/7/2006 1:42:40 PM)
Lowell, which endorsements switched parties? That would be a total blast on the endorsement list. Have they publicly announced this? Is it people you can tell us?

I don't think they've rolled publicly (teacherken - 6/7/2006 1:53:50 PM)
but I know of at least two and in one case people close to the public official are actively working on behalf of Webb with the knowledge and blessing of the public official.  I doubt that Lowell can say more, although I'd be delighted if he could.

I know of no PUBLIC switches by endorsers.

That would be a bit unsavory. (thegools - 6/7/2006 2:46:45 PM)
An endorsement should never be made rashly.  To make one and withdraw would not look well on the endorser.  Can we say wishy-washy, no spine etc.
Put your money where your mouth is and endorse or don't.  There is no dishonor in withholding an endorsement.

Ken took the words right out of my mouth. (Lowell - 6/7/2006 3:17:51 PM)
Let's just put it this way...it's someone listed very high on Miller's "endorsements."  Or should I say, "former endorsements."  Ha.

Greg B's list of who it's not (Mookie - 6/9/2006 2:38:50 PM)
Who it's not:

Who... (Corey - 6/7/2006 2:54:26 PM)
Who is that Corey guy anyway? :)

Seems like I have heard (Mark - 6/7/2006 3:08:08 PM)
of him, doesn't he do political work?  ;)
