From Alternet comes this story of George Allen+óGé¼Gäós latest pro-gun fetish.  See http://www.alternet.org/blogs/peek/37017/  Allen is chief sponsor of a bill that would +óGé¼+ôallow people licensed to carry a concealed weapon in one state to enjoy the same privilege anywhere else in the country.+óGé¼-¥  S. 3275 says"+óGé¼-ª nonresidents of a State may carry concealed firearms in the State" if they are permitted to carry their gun elsewhere.+óGé¼-¥  http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d109:S3275 [actual language was not available when I wrote this]

Allen+óGé¼Gäós explanation?  "The bill would simply require States to recognize each other's concealed carry permits and licenses, just as they recognize drivers' licenses," said Allen in introducing his bill last week, proclaiming that his legislation would "+óGé¼-ª increase the safety of the many law-abiding Americans who have chosen to carry a firearm for protection against criminal attack."

Bob Geiger+óGé¼Gäós Alternet story says: +óGé¼+ôTaking a look at all donations made by the NRA of America Political Victory Fund shows that -- surprise! -- four of the top ten Senate recipients of NRA largesse in the last six years are sponsoring this legislation.+óGé¼-¥  Allen is said to have received about $67,000 from the NRA+óGé¼Gäós Political Victory Fund.
Comment:  Yep, just like recognizing drivers' licenses.

What a jackass (Eric - 6/2/2006 5:13:12 PM)
Should we assume that he also supports states recognizing each other's marriage certificates?  So, for example, if MA ends up allowing same sex marriage then Cowboy George would support a bill that requires VA to recognize the marriage?
