Speaking of Al Weed...

Virginia Congressional Nominee Al Weed Endorses Jim Webb

Al Weed+óGé¼Gäós District Includes Charlottesville, Danville, Bedford and Martinsville

Today, 5th Congressional District Democratic Nominee Al Weed endorsed Jim Webb for U.S. Senate. The 5th Congressional District stretches from Charlottesville to Virginia+óGé¼Gäós southern border and includes the cities of Danville, Bedford, South Boston and Martinsville.

+óGé¼+ôI+óGé¼Gäóm proud to endorse Jim Webb and I look forward to campaigning and governing with him. As veterans, we both understand how to fight for our country. For too long, George Bush, George Allen, and Virgil Goode have worked against the American values that Jim and I fought to protect,+óGé¼-¥ said Weed. +óGé¼+ôIt is now our duty to stand up so that Washington can, once again, work for all Americans. Together we will bring honest representation back to Washington.+óGé¼-¥

Al Weed served 42 years in the United States Army. He was a Green Beret in the Vietnam War and a Command Sergeant Major in Bosnia. In 1973, he founded Mountain Cove Vineyard, which is now Virginia+óGé¼Gäós oldest continuously-running vineyard.

+óGé¼+ôAl and I share many common ideals. We are both Fighting Dems and we will both work tirelessly in the halls of Congress for those who are not represented by special interests,+óGé¼-¥ said Webb. +óGé¼+ôI+óGé¼Gäóm thankful for his support.+óGé¼-¥

the endorsement is big (teacherken - 6/1/2006 12:50:18 PM)
Al is person of quality.  I am proud of having helped with his campaign (financially and on education) last cycle.  And even though he has a tough campaign of his own, his willingness to stand up for the best man shows his honesty and integrity.  Remember, Al is as prominent as any Democrat in a range of the state stretching from N of Charlottesville to the NC line.  His endorsement will carry real weight in the 5th CD.

Welcome aboard the Webb express, Al.

I agree. This is great! (Lowell - 6/1/2006 12:54:52 PM)
Thanks Al. :)

I met Al at Frank O'Leary's St Patrick's Day (teacherken - 6/1/2006 12:59:23 PM)
in 2004.  And yes, Ingrid was performing, as she usually does.  I talked with him there quite a bit, and was greatly impressed.  I brought my wife with me and we went down to Charlottesville for an event the following weekend.  Al appeared several times at events in N Virginia during the campaign.

Folks, I am proud to support Al.  Even though money is tight right now, Al's endorsement of Jim motivated me to go to Al's website and contribute $50.01  (the additional penny is the old dkos method of indicating a netroots contribution).  Replacing Virgil with Al would greatly increase both the intelligence and the ethics of the Old Dominion's Congressional delegation.

AL Weed- Very impressive (thegools - 6/1/2006 1:07:36 PM)
I heard Al Weed speak at a Sunday Supper Club meeting a while ago.  I was very impressed.  That guy is a smart, articulate and perceptive fellow.  If I could vote for him I would.  But as a neighbor of his district, I will say I am behind him all the way.  That he saw past the Miller slander, to choose the best-strongest choice for Senate, James Webb, shows me that he is a man with very good sense.

I contributed.. (Kathy Gerber - 6/1/2006 1:41:43 PM)
And remembered the .01 for a change.  Thanks for the reminder.

not teaching today?  This is an important endorsement indeed.  I hope that we will again put together an event for Al here in Arlington, like we did two years ago, soon after we nominate Jim Webb for Senate.

I am home sick (teacherken - 6/1/2006 1:38:29 PM)
for the first time in about 6 or 7 years.  I have badly infected sinuses, am on antibiotics and bed rest for next few days.  I will go to school tomorrow afternoon to grade the projects due that day.  Otherwise I am off until Monday,

If i did not take the time off, I would be too sick to make it to yearlykos.

This unfortunately means I will NOT be able to go door to door in my neighborhood for Jim, but I will send out an email.
