I just got an email from MoveOn.  Rep. Robert Scott, or Bobby, was very influential in protecting our internet rights.  Let's all give him a shout-out, right after you finish writing your LTE for James Webb.  ;)

the email follows...
Dear MoveOn member,

Last week, Net Neutrality advocates stunned the political world by winning a vote overwhelmingly in a House committee. You were a big part of that win.

Your representative, Rep. Robert Scott, was also part of it. He voted FOR Internet freedom and Net Neutrality+óGé¼GÇ¥helping to defeat big telecom companies and other members of Congress who were willing to sell out the Internet.

Can you call Rep. Scott today to say thanks for defending Net Neutrality and Internet freedom?

Here are the numbers:

Congressman Robert Scott
Phone: 202-225-8351
District Offices:
  Newport News: 757-380-1000
  Richmond: 804-644-4845

When you talk to a staffer, please mention that you expect Rep. Scott to continue to support the bipartisan Sensenbrenner/Conyers "Internet Freedom and Nondiscrimination Act" when it comes to the House floor. This is really important for them to hear from constituents because sometimes votes have a way of changing in Congress.

To maximize impact, please call your representative's Washington, D.C. and local office. After you've called, please click here to let us know:

Last Thursday's vote was a solid loss for AT&T and their multi-million dollar lobbyists and a solid win for everyday Americans who decided to fight back and save the Internet. Our pressure achieved a strong bipartisan victory+óGé¼GÇ¥6 Republicans joined 14 Democrats for a bipartisan 20-13 vote.

But the fight's not over: in June, a vote is expected to take place in the full House, and the Senate is also considering this issue.  We're making progress every day.

Thanks for all you do.

P.S. Can you support this member-driven campaign today? As companies like AT&T spend millions lobbying Congress to gut Internet freedom, we will win this fight because of the power of regular people. A donation of $5, $10, or $20 would go a long way. You can donate here:

Oh he rocks alright, but let's get him to roll... (thaddaeus toad - 5/30/2006 4:32:40 PM)
...onto the list of Officials who have endorsed James H. Webb for Senator of Virginia.
I'm sure he won't bite, but it wouldn't hurt to have his staffers become aware of his consituents' wishes.

Richt on, and agreed. n/t (phriendlyjaime - 5/30/2006 4:53:27 PM)
