Congratulations to the Virginia Cavaliers men's lacrosse team.  As of yesterday afternoon's 15-7 victory over Massachusetts, they are national champions in Division I and undefeated (17-0).  Is this the greatest team in college Lacrosse history?  According to the Daily Progress:

Among the best ever?

How special is debatable. Where Virginia+óGé¼Gäós 17-0 achievement fits in the perspective of lacrosse history is something that will be talked about for weeks to come.

There have been some great teams from Princeton, North Carolina and Johns Hopkins. Then there are the Syracuse teams that won three straight titles from 1988 to 1990 featuring the Gaits - Paul and Gary.

But no squad has ever gone 17-0 in Division I history.

Nobody.

Impressive.  And a nice antidote to all the bad news coming out of the Duke lacrosse program.
