Analysis and Documentation: George Allen is already the GOP 2008 "front-runner!"

Hello Everyone:

Below are three informative articles to show that George Allen is already the GOP front-runner for President in 2008 in my opinion!

The first article is from Rush Limbaugh titled "Be Careful Who We Choose, GOP" and the next two articles are from the extreme right wing Neocon NewsMax.com which are titled "Sen. George Allen Tops CPAC Poll" and "Star Player for 2008: George Allen+óGé¼Gäós Common Sense" which has George Allen right on the front page of their magazine!

I have done much research to show that George Allen is already the GOP front-runner for President in 2008.  Rush Limbaugh implies that in the transcript below "Be Careful Who We Choose, GOP" where he tears apart John McCain and says about George Allen (with a big picture of him up in that transcript):

RUSH: "Yeah. We've gotta be careful who we choose, and that's the bottom line. And like I said, George Allen today, George Allen on the floor of the Senate, when the Democrats start huffing and puffing about the potential filibuster and stuff, George Allen said, "Go ahead and make my day, just go ahead. If you want to try to filibuster this nominee, you go right ahead." Instead of trying to cower in the corner or trying to say things to make people everywhere like you."

Rush Limbaugh has already openly stated his support for George Allen to be President in 2008.  Here is what Limbaugh said to Sean Hannity in an interview:

Rush Limbaugh Gives Sean a Rare Interview
Wednesday, October 19, 2005

HANNITY: Your love of the Reagan mantle of conservatism +óGé¼GÇ¥ you see the Republican arena, who do you look to? It's not McCain, but I've heard you talk about Senator McCain.

LIMBAUGH: You're funny.

HANNITY: Thanks. It's probably not Rudy Giuliani on social issues. Who do you see that holds the Reagan mantle that you'd like to see run and win?

LIMBAUGH: But now you're asking me for a name? You want a name?

HANNITY: You got one?

LIMBAUGH: "It's early. The danger with mentioning names is that you hurt the feelings of people that you leave out. I'm going to leave some people out because of time constraints, but when I hear George Allen speak, there's a part of me, "Yes, rah-rah."

Rush Limbaugh also practically endorsed George Allen in this interview from March 22, 2006:

Q: Who's your Republican candidate in 2008?

A: Right now I like George Allen. I anticipate the John McCain and Rudy Giuliani talk will die down in the end. But it's wide open. Republicans who win elections are conservatives, though.

George Allen also tries to score brownie points with Rush Limbaugh:

An Interview with Senator George Allen
January 07, 2006 02:20 PM EST

NCC: "Rush Limbaugh has repeatedly stated that your political speeches are inspirational and remind him of President Reagan; what is your reaction to his praise?

That is as high a compliment as I can envision. I like Rush Limbaugh - he is an influential and smart leader. He is also entertaining. I find it relaxing to listen to Rush. It is a very high compliment to be mentioned by Rush, and to be mentioned with my political hero, the man who motivated me to get involved in politics, President Reagan. I was in law school, at the University of Virginia, when they asked me to become chairman of Young Americans for Reagan, which was my first experience in organized politics. Plus, Rush knows sports, and he knows football."

I think that Mary Matalin is right on target when she told Tim Russert on Meet The Press on 1/22/06:

MR. RUSSERT: "How about the Republicans, Mary Matalin? Who+óGé¼Gäós the front-you said that Hillary Clinton is the front-runner on the Democratic side, who+óGé¼Gäós the front-runner on the Republican side?

MS. MATALIN: Well, the insider front-runner is George Allen.

MR. RUSSERT: In all the polls, it+óGé¼Gäós John McCain and Rudy Giuliani.

MS. MATALIN: Yeah, I said the insiders, who have to run these campaigns and can look at the map and look at what philosophy plays in our primaries, the part that it plays, and how it incentivizes activists like George Allen. But we have a deep and a very good bench too, McCain and Giuliani."

George Allen also arrogantly said that "Karl Rove is trying to unite this country" and he is clearly playing to the GOP Neocon activist base when he said:

CNN LATE EDITION WITH WOLF BLITZER

Aired January 22, 2006 - 11:00  ET

BLITZER: "I'll give you the last word, Senator Allen, on Samuel Alito. Go ahead.

ALLEN: Karl Rove is trying to unite this country in this effort, by the way.

And as far as Judge Alito, that's a values issue.

We see judges who ignore the will of the people in a variety of ways, everything from striking the Pledge of Allegiance from schools because of the words "under God;" you see them striking down parental notification bills, just last week.

Last year, you saw them amend the Bill of Rights by judicial decree, allowing commissars in New London, Connecticut to take people's homes, the American dream, not for a road or a school but because they wanted to derive more revenue off of it.

Judge Alito has an outstanding record. He had the unanimous highest recommendation from the ABA. He's 15 years as a Circuit Court judge. I think he's going to be an outstanding Supreme Court justice, respecting the will of the people in our representative democracy.

And if the Democrats want to filibuster, let them. We'll pull the constitutional trigger. And as far as I'm concerned, it's not too much to ask a senator to get off his or her cushy seat and show some backbone and spine and vote yes or vote no, but vote.

BLITZER: OK, we'll leave it right there.

Senator Allen, Senator Schumer, a good discussion. We'll continue this discussion -- see what happens in the Judiciary Committee this week, then on the Senate floor."

I do not think that John McCain or any GOP moderate could ever get enough support to seriously challenge the GOP Neocons since they control The White House, Congress, The RNC, and most of the GOP activist grassroots.

I am personally very upset with John McCain for selling out to Bush and the Neocons in 2004 when he clearly knew better and McCain in dreamland if he thinks that he can win the GOP nomination in 2008 by trying to keep one foot in the Neocon GOP realm and the other foot in the moderate GOP realm like how he is trying to do now.  The GOP Neocons have an arrogant, no-compromise "you are with us or against us" type of philosophy!

That could possibly change if the GOP Neocons lose a lot of power in the 2006 elections (such as both the House and Senate) but I do not think so even if such losses happen because the Neocons absolutely hate Non-Neocon and moderate Republicans about as much as they hate Democrats which is just a fact!

I also do not see any other GOP Neocon doing as much as George Allen is to openly suck up to Rush Limbaugh, his pals, and to the Neocon GOP base!

By having Rush Limbaugh and company's support if he announces his candidacy, George Allen will get extensive media coverage as well as heavy campaign support and contributions from the GOP Neocon grassroots which is a huge advantage.

I do not see how any GOP moderate or Non-Neocon Republican candidate for President can effectively stand up to George Allen when I see nothing in place now from within the GOP with enough power to seriously fight against him!

I am sure we remember the slogan "Bush Lite" that was used in 2004.  Make no mistake about it that if George Allen runs and wins the 2008 GOP nomination, he will run as "Bush Heavy" offering the GOP Neocons everything that they like from Bush now and he will also offer to give them even more arrogance and some other things that Bush is not always giving them to suck up to the activist Neocon GOP base!

I fully admit that I could be wrong about George Allen but all of this evidence that is credibly documented along with what I am hearing him and others say shows to me that Allen is already the GOP front-runner for 2008 as Mary Matalin said above: "Well, the insider front-runner is George Allen."

I gladly welcome any comments and feedback and I encourage everyone who reads this to seriously think about how important that this Senate race is.  This is probably going to be one of the most important races in 2006 because of what is on the line in 2008!

That is why I proudly support James Webb as being by far a more electable candidate against George Allen than Harris Miller would be in a post 9/11 world when George Allen has been a total rubber stamp for Bush on Iraq and when Jack Abramoff lobbyist and political corruption scandals are in the news now!

James Webb can also win over many more moderate, independent, and disillusioned Republican voters than Harris Miller can since James Webb is a former Republican and a new Democrat.  That shows some real conviction to me!

Be Careful Who We Choose, GOP

January 25, 2006

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Timothy in Knoxville, I'm glad you held on. Appreciate your patience, and welcome to the program.

CALLER: Hey, Rush, it's a pleasure to speak with you.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: Referring to your commentary on Hillary in the first hour.

RUSH: Yes.

CALLER: I would like for you to clarify what you meant about being careful who we pick as a candidate in 2008 to run against Hillary.

RUSH: Clarify?

CALLER: Well, the word "careful." I was just -- you know, I hope that you don't mean a safe candidate or somebody who's --

RUSH: No, just the contrary.

CALLER: Moderating statements --

RUSH: No, no, no, just the contrary. We need to continue to be aggressive. This is no time to go into prevent defense. I'm talking about nominating the wrong person, let's not nominate somebody that's not conservative.

CALLER: Sure. Because I think our views represent normality, and that we shouldn't have to be afraid of them. I want a candidate who's going to say things that, say, Hillary or any other liberal wouldn't be able to agree with.

RUSH: Hold it. Let's conduct a little test. I want you to listen to some sound bites with me and then you tell me if this is a candidate that you could support.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: All right? I mean, I'm not trying to embarrass you. I want your actual honest input here.

CALLER: Sure.

RUSH: Let's go to the Today Show today, Matt Lauer interviewing Senator McCain. And Lauer said -- this is about government reform -- he said, "You proposed new legislation that would change the rules of the way lobbyists and lawmakers interact, this following the Jack Abramoff situation. Do you think that legislation could be passed this year?"

MAVERICK MCCAIN: Yes. You will see lobbying reform this year. The question is will we reform the system that has caused the corruption and has caused the situation where one corrupt congressman and one lobbyist can get tens of millions of dollars inserted in the middle of the night and in an appropriations bill. That's the question, as to whether we'll fix the so-called earmarking, pork barrel spending. And I don't know if we're going to be able to do that or not. If we don't we're not going to fix the system.

RUSH: All right. Are you inspired there?

CALLER: No, I'm not, Rush.

RUSH: All right, let's give Senator McCain another chance then. It's not fair just to have you judge him on one sound bite. Let's go back to the Today Show today. Matt Lauer talking to Senator McCain. He says, "When you were asked if you thought the president's actions," this is the NSA domestic spying scandal, Timothy, "Senator, when you were asked if you thought the president's actions were legal, you said, 'I don't think so.' You think the president broke the law?"

MAVERICK MCCAIN: I don't know. I want to be perfectly clear, I don't know the answer. That's why I welcome the hearings. If we didn't -- if I was sure whether it's legal or not, then I wouldn't feel that these hearings are important. And again, I'm glad the president welcomes them. The question that I don't know the answer to, is what's the scope of this program, who's being listened to?

RUSH: All right, does that inspire you?

CALLER: No. Not particularly.

RUSH: Well, that's maverick John McCain, the president of the media, and he says he doesn't know if the president broke the law and that's why we need hearings, and he wants to know who's being listened to and what's the scope of this program. The way to analyze this, imagine if McCain were president, had authorized the same program to go ahead and protect the American people, would he have the same questions about his own activity and behavior? He knows George W. Bush. You know, does this sound like the kind of guy that you as a conservative, Timothy, could rally behind and say yep, this is my guy?

CALLER: No. McCain is not a starter for me. I couldn't back him.

RUSH: All right, well, let's give him one more chance.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: You may be making a hasty judgment here. Let's stick with the Today Show, Matt Lauer interviewing Senator McCain. He said, "Alberto Gonzales said yesterday and defended this program saying that when Congress voted on that resolution following 9/11 to give the president the power to fight the war on terrorism, they were in fact giving him the power to carry out this policy. You supported that resolution. Had you known that that would have been part of the resolution would you have supported it?"

MAVERICK MCCAIN: Why, of course I would have supported the resolution because I thought it was very important given the threat.

LAUER: But would you have questioned this policy?

MAVERICK MCCAIN: I did not know that that was part of it. But the attorney general of the United States just made a legal argument, he should make it at the hearing, we should hear from other witnesses.

RUSH: Okay, so Senator McCain here says he didn't know that that 2001 resolution would cover the -- How can you not? How can you not know that a resolution granting the president the power to do whatever is necessary, not allow the president to spy on foreign enemy agents to find out what they're going to do? How can you not know that that's what that included?

CALLER: Well, that's my point, though, Rush. I mean, he's trying to be careful about everything he says, and I was concerned that what you were saying, we meet a guy that knows how to be careful, you know, when he talks to Matt Lauer.

RUSH: No, no, no, no, no. You misunderstood. I said we must be careful in who we choose. I didn't say we must choose someone careful.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: Yeah. We've gotta be careful who we choose, and that's the bottom line. And like I said, George Allen today, George Allen on the floor of the Senate, when the Democrats start huffing and puffing about the potential filibuster and stuff, George Allen said, "Go ahead and make my day, just go ahead. If you want to try to filibuster this nominee, you go right ahead." Instead of trying to cower in the corner or trying to say things to make people everywhere like you. I mean, that to me is a death trap because it's not possible. I know he knows everything about war. McCain was a prisoner of war. He understands what it takes to fight the enemy. When he was in that prison he was hoping damn well we had intelligence to know where he was to get him out of there. I know, that, to me is a little bit disingenuous about the way he answered all these questions. Thanks, Timothy, for the phone call.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

We've got one more audio sound bite here, ladies and gentlemen. Senator McCain, after he finished with Matt Lauer on the Today Show, went over to Julie Chen at the Early Show on CBS, or maybe he was there first, I don't know, and she says, "Senator, how do you personally feel about these wiretaps and spying on domestic citizens? Not only are you a lawmaker, you are also a citizen. If you were on a phone call to somewhere overseas and you found out the government was listening in, how would you feel about it?"

MAVERICK MCCAIN: I wouldn't like that just because of the privacy concerns. There have been allegations that there are Al-Qaeda cells in the United States of America and they're listening in on that, and I think all of us, including me, would support that. That's why I think we need to understand the parameters of the program.

CHEN: So is it tough luck on those who are not talking to Al-Qaeda operatives who get their phone calls listened in on?

MAVERICK MCCAIN: I don't know whether they are or not. The administration claims that only those suspected Al-Qaeda members or suspected terrorists are those who are being eavesdropped upon.

RUSH: Look, folks, can we be realistic? It's going to happen. Do you understand that despite the fact nobody wants it to, there are people that get in car accidents every day? It just happens. There's a term for it, expletive happens. There's nothing in the country or in the world that is perfect. There probably have been people who have been talking on the phone to somebody overseas and their phone call was logged or something, but I'll bet you ten to one none of them have been approached or subpoenaed, unless they're talking to Al-Qaeda. I mean, that's the right answer. Look, you're going to war, and soldiers get killed. It happens. There are unfortunate things that happen. There's a price for everything. But to demand perfection in a program like this is simply absurd. Notice, though, despite all of these fears and all of these complaints, not one of these people who object to this program have suggested that it be canceled.

Sen. George Allen Tops CPAC Poll

Sen. George Allen, R-Va., featured in this month+óGé¼Gäós NewsMax magazine cover story "Star Player for 2008: George Allen+óGé¼Gäós Common Sense," is the favorite to lead the 2008 GOP ticket, according to a straw poll taken at this year+óGé¼Gäós Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) held last weekend in Washington, D.C.

Allen led the pack of GOP candidates -- garnering 22 percent of the vote. Human Events reported that Allen doubled his poll vote share over last year's CPAC survey.

Coming in second behind Allen was Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who garnered 20 percent of the vote.

In last year+óGé¼Gäós poll, McCain and Allen were tied at 11 percent.

The biggest losers in the 2006 straw poll were moderates: former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who dropped from first place last year (with 19 percent) to third this year (with 12 percent); and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who went from second last year (with 18 percent) to fourth (with 10 percent).Giuliani had been invited to this year's CPAC, but a scheduling conflict prevented him from attending.

Clearly, Allen is emerging as the candidate of the Reagan base of the Republican party.

A Hotline poll taken last of Washington insiders also placed Allen as the GOP frontrunner. Find out the full details about candidate George Allen in NewsMax's special report Click Here Now.

Here are the results of the CPAC poll:

Thinking ahead to the 2008 presidential election, who do you think will be the next Republican nominee for President?

George Allen: 22%
John McCain: 20%
Rudy Giuliani: 12%
Condoleezza Rice: 10%
Bill Frist: 6%
Tom Tancredo: 5%
Mitt Romney: 5%
Newt Gingrich: 5%
Rick Santorum: 3%
George Pataki: 3%
Undecided: 4%

*All others tested received 1% or less
