Raising Kaine "Endorsements:" Republicans

There are exactly two weeks to go until Primary Day, June 14.  This will be a rare event in Virginia, with both Republican and Democratic contests being held simultaneously.  And, we've got some hot races on both sides.  Today, RaisingKaine "endorses" candidates in the Republican races.  The reason "endorses" is in quotes will become clear shortly.  (By the way, keep in mind that Independents and Democrats can request the Republican ballot on June 14, as Barnie Day suggests at Bacon's Rebellion.  Not that we would ever suggest such a thing ourselves, heaven forfend!)

Governor:
We endorse George Fitch, in spite of the fact that Jerry Kilgore looks all but certain to win easily on June 14.  That's too bad, because a victory by Mr. "Cool Runnings" Fitch in the Republican primary would provide great entertainment value through November.  In addition, a Fitch victory would cause a significant degree of chaos in the Republican Party.  This would be both highly enjoyable to watch and also a big advantage for Tim Kaine.  Plus, Fitch would not have much money, at least at first, which would be yet another  advantage for Kaine - and also loads o' laffs as Fitch resorted to more creative ways to get his message out.  Finally, Fitch would be an even more conservative candidate than Kilgore, so all in all would be less electable in November.  This, of course, would give voters the clearest choice in the general election, while simultaneously paving an easier road to victory for Tim Kaine.  It's for all these reasons that we here at RaisingKaine enthusiastically endorse George Fitch in the June 14 Republican primary.  Run "Cool Runnings" run!

Lt. Governor:  We endorse Bill Bolling without hesitation or doubt.  C'mon, how can you top a  guy who worked at the "Enron of the insurance industry," for 21 years?  You know, the company that went bankrupt in 2003 ?with $770 million in unpaid claims?? The one which ?financially devastated thousands of doctors and lawyers as well as many hospitals across the country that relied on it for their malpractice insurance??

Yet, as far as Bill Bolling?s website is concerned, he never worked at the Reciprocal Group - or anywhere else, for that matter ? except as a lifetime politician. Reciprocal Group? Who are they? Never heard of ?em. Did I ever work there? Huh? Who, me? Nosiree, nowhere, nohow.

Let's face it, Bill "Gutter" Bolling is an awesome candidate -- for the Democrats to attack, that is.  So, puh-leeze nominate him, Republican voters (and others) of Virginia!  Pretty please?

Atty. General:  Another no-brainer.  We've got to go with  Robert Francis ?Bob? McDonnell, a man who -- if this is humanly possible -- can't remember if he ever engaged in sodomy.  That's right, let's reiterate:  "Bob" McDonnell can't remember if he ever engaged in sodomy.   To quote Barnie Day:  "Think about it. He can?t remember. He can?t recall. Think about that one for a minute."  Now, here's  Jim Spencer of the Hampton Roads Daily Press on ol' Robert Francis:

McDonnell, a man considering a run for Virginia attorney general, apparently has decided to warm up by appointing himself head of Virginia?s new Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.

If you thought such overbearing minions of morality existed only among Afghan extremists, think again. Taliban Bob says Newport News Circuit Judge Verbena Askew may not be fit for reappointment to the bench if she ever violated the state?s crimes-against-nature law?.

Taliban Bob, a graduate of Pat Robertson?s Regent University Law School and a darling of Robertson?s Christian Coalition, assumes that the harassment claim might mean that [Newport News Circuit Judge Verbena] Askew might be a lesbian. And if she is, McDonnell says, she may not be judicial material. Then, he defends his bigotry by hiding behind the crimes-against-nature law.

Wow, this is all very impressive.  Which is why the bottom line for RaisingKaine on a Creigh Deeds vs. "Taliban Bob" McDonnell matchup is this:  bring it on!

Contested Republican House of Delegates races?  All we can say here is this, "make our day and nominate the most right-wing of the candidates in each contested race!"  People like: Mark "Bible study and prayer in our schools" Jarvis  (30th), Chris "Election Law Violations" Oprison (33rd), Jim "No Voting Record but Supported by Far Right, Out-of-State Money" Kaplan (37th), Michael "Club for Growth" Golden (41st), Steve "Dead Dog" Chapman (50th), Shaun "Life Begins at Conception" Kenney  (54th), Chris "25-year old school teacher who lost a school board race in ?03" Craddock (67th).

As far as we're concerned, these would all be stellar choices for the Republicans.  That is, they would be stellar choices if your goal were to increase the Democrats' chances of picking up a few House of Delegates seats this November.  Which, of course, is your goal.  Right?
