We delivered 250 copies of Crashing the Gate yesterday to all Democratic members of the House and Senate. This was part of the Roots Project. I signed up to volunteer.
There were four volunteers came down from NY and a number of local volunteers. We didn't know that we couldn't deliver books in boxes to Congress. However, with the help of someone in high place, we were able to get the boxes in and deliver all these books. Kudos to all the volunteers who organized the efforts and work on the details.. maps, talking points etc. Thanks to Jim Edwards-Hewitt who got me hooked up with this effort.

It took us a good couple of hours to finish it. By the end of the day, I was exhausted after walking from building to building and from the House side to the Senate side. Now, I am good in getting around these offices. It was worth the effort. Saw Sen. Patrick Leahy (VT) from a distance and no one else. Can't you believe it.. all the Congressmen and Senators must have been busy yesterday. Because most of the time, it was just few minutes face time with staffs. Overall, the responses we got very positive. One of the staffs gave a comment "You mean, the gate is not good enough now?" .. pause for a moment, then we laughed. Got a chance to drop off CTG copies to Sen. Reid, Schumer, and both Nelsons (ND? and FL)

Only few Senators have no-gift policy at all! Sen. Feingold is one of them.

the gates and then after that.. we're crashed :) Hope they get the message to have a more pro-active approach with netroots.

That is a long walk... (Loudoun County Dem - 5/25/2006 11:54:50 AM)
I've helped pass literature to house and senate offices before (just flyers, not books).

You've done well my son...
